Sim Football proposal

What would you guys think of a sim football game that was NOT an NFL licenced game, but came with all the pomp and atmosphere that the NFL offers?
You could base the game in the future, say 2030 (the game likely will not change significantly throughout this period), with fictional players and teams from all over the USA (like L.A.), Canada and Europe. The league could be called the IFL (International Football League). Just think of the creative licence the developers could take with a game like this! Futuristic stadiums, diverse team uniforms, and a unique league format. The game would be presented as more NFL than the NFL!
I know the game of football can be presented far more accurately and in a manner more enjoyable to gamers than what EA sports is currently putting out with its Madden series, a series which basically has a monopoly on the genre of football games. If a company could design a game that was clearly a better simulation than Madden, and also took tremendous creative licence to create a new football world in essence, I think people would flock to it regardless of whether or not it was licenced by the NFL. What do you guys think of my wacky gamer fantasy? lol Keep in mind that despite being completely different from the NFL, the IFL would mirror the gameplay of the NFL with regards to statistics, league rules and so forth.

IFL sounds like a good idea. As long as you would be able to play multiple seasons with one team, thats one of the main things that killed APF2k8 for me.

I've never had anyone request that before. Would you prefer that over playing with real people?
