Japanese Catastrophies

The pictures and video are absolutely unbelievable.

Already stated this is the 4th to 5th largest earthquake in the world over the last half-century.

Even Hawaii is under a Tsunami Watch until 3am local time.

Can't even imagine the death toll at this point.

Re: 8.9 Earthquake Hits Japan, Tsnuami To Follow

Wow, Hawaii upgraded to Tsunami Warning...

Quote:
A TSUNAMI HAS BEEN GENERATED THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE ALONG
COASTLINES OF ALL ISLANDS IN THE STATE OF HAWAII. URGENT ACTION
SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.

A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE
CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD
COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER CAN CONTINUE FOR MANY HOURS AFTER THE
INITIAL WAVE AS SUBSEQUENT WAVES ARRIVE. TSUNAMI WAVE HEIGHTS
CANNOT BE PREDICTED AND THE FIRST WAVE MAY NOT BE THE LARGEST.
TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND ISLANDS. ALL SHORES ARE AT
RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY FACE. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI
WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL
QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE
CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS PICKED UP AND CARRIED
BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH
TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD.

THE ESTIMATED ARRIVAL TIME IN HAWAII OF THE FIRST TSUNAMI WAVE IS

0259 AM HST FRI 11 MAR 2011
This could be devastating beyond Japan and their coast.

Hell, the West Coast could even be hit by this.

I wish they'd have some kind of "previously recorded" sign or whatever. I can't tell half the time if I'm watching stuff I've seen before, or if it's actually live footage.

This still doesn't seem real, like something straight out of a movie.

I can't imagine being in a car, seeing the waves, trying to outdrive it and simply not being able to. Absolutely horrifying.

Yeah especially the scene with the people waving the white flag... I can't tell if that's footage from earlier or if the 'copter is still just watching them beg for help
