Backbreaker is an AWESOME simulation experience with edited ratings(360)

I got backbreaker last year....and never played it until a week and a half ago. It was a mix of the bad reviews for pre-patch (too many interceptions, too easy to win, bad acamera angle) and post- patch ( No running game) that led me to delay playing the game.

Well fast forward 14 months later, I tried the game and immediately downloaded mr jordan's classic rosters and lo and behold the game played nicely. The running game was better, but still the cpu were too inconsistent. Next thing I did, downloaded NFL rosters from gsjii and started editing with Flyingfinn's editor and now I have edited NFL rosters (2010 playoffs edition) and a cpu AI that can run the ball.

The game absolutely is flooring me right now and I will tell you why:

1) Absolutely unscripted gameplay. No cpu comeback AI, no cpu psychic DBs, no superman linebackers, no 5 broken tackles en route to a TD. You win because you play well and you lose because you mess up or the cpu is just the better team.

2) the physics can be off sometimes, but 9 times out of 10, the tackles, the running, the violence in the game looks so great. No tackle looks the same, no pile-up at the goal line turns out the same, no run feels the exact same....

3) Ratings absolutely matter.....played the bears just now with my eagles, and tried outside runs on julius peppers' side....no dice. Went the other way and found better success.

4) Man to man and zone defense works and strategy matters in this game. Played the 49ers and gore was getting off some good runs on me....stack the box, make their run less effective and force the pass. CPU has a brain....they are doing good in the run, they will keep going to it until you stop them. \

5) people say the WRs drop too many balls? the cpu completes 50-60 percent a game, and I am starting to do the same.....need to avoid throwing to receivers who are about to get nailed.

6) Random form ( backbreaker maybe took this from Pro evo soccer) but it fits....when your QB is having a bad day....you will need to adjust...another layer of strategy. The AI is phenomenal in this game.

Problems I see:

1) more conventional penalties need to be seen (holding, block in the back, etc)

2) CPU ball carriers sometimes take bad running routes....they should bust outside but stay inside....maybe their focus ratings??

3) Lack of CPU scrambling.....maybe there is, I saw Favre take off twice for 3 and 6 yards....but Vick needs to scramble more....but no ratings to differentiate this, so could be a problem.

There are files everywhere and the editor is very simple to use. Check out the forums and you can find the file you like and adjust accordingly.

Is there any time frame for that. Didn't really like BB, but certainly saw potential there. I'd like to see the game in it's second iteration.

exactly....it was very easy to use the editor....

I have sent my file to NYJETS17 via email, so he maybe can post the rosters here...as i have no clue how....

I took GSjii's latest rosters and edited the FBs, TES ( for blocking), raised all OL strength, decreased heavily all DE/DT/LB strength.....(don't worry u and the cpu still will get sacks)

If people still don't see enough running game.....the RBs can be edited a bit higher across the board....but I don't think it's necessary.

I love this game too. Finally a football game were you run up the gut and get gang tackled by all involved, instead of one guy. Like in other games...

None whatsoever, not sure anything can really ever be expected, they're focused on mobile titles.

They've dabbled w/ releasing versions of their mobile games digitally on the consoles but their success is debatable and they weren't able to get Sony to release it on PSN in the US.
