Icon4 Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown announced for consoles!

Finally! After being exclusively in the arcades of Japan for over 14 months, today Sega has officially announced a port of Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown developed for the Xbox 360 and PS3. This game is going to be released strictly as downloadable content off of Xbox Live and PSN respectively during the summer of 2012. There will not be a version available on a disc for retail. Gamespot has a VF5 FS announcement article posted along with a video trailer plus a Q&A section uncovering a few more details.

Virtua Fighter 5 set for final showdown

Shameless plug: If you want to see VF5 FS in motion check out my OS Arena. I have plenty of good matches posted.

Great news. Virtua Fighter 5 is one of the first games I got for my PS3 back in 2007. Now, I can finally go online.

For those who are interested,

Sega brought a VF5 FS arcade cabinet to the PAX event in Seattle today and will have a live feed going on showing off the game from 6pm-8pm local time (9pm-11pm ET). Click on the link below to see it when it begins in a little over an hour from now.

Watch it Live on IPLAYWINNER.TV

And for those who live out there in the Seattle area, the VF5 FS will be at the PAX throughout the weekend and will then be moved to Seattle Gameworks nearby.

How would one describe Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown? What do I need to understand about VF5 to become better at it?

Thanks

Of all the fighting games out there this one always seems to fall through the cracks. At least here in the States.

In Japan, there is always quite a few people lined up to play this.

Such a technical game, with tons of moves. I was never really good at it, but I had a lot of fun playing it.
