    Be A GM Injury frequency..

    Here's the situation:

    Be a GM on "hard"

Simming through year 1, with no assistant help with lineups, and I notice that players on my team are suffering major injuries almost every week. CPU teams do as well, but it appears to be slightly less frequent.

I figured this was because my medical staff rating was low (since.. apparently all organizations are terrible today, but project to be maxed out in a few years and stay that way indefinitely..) So I improved the medical staff as time went on.. and I also at some point went in a tuned the injury slider down to zero.

At the end of year 2, I had most of the starters at 50-65 games, a few at 65-75, and exactly 3 who played 76-82 games, in year one, not a single player survived the season free of major injury, 0 players played 76-82 games.

Year 3, medical staff bar is half full, and injuries might be slightly less frequent.. but we're talking a major injury every 2 weeks.. still excessive.. Most of the injuries are broken legs, broken ankles, and MCL sprains (which run you 5-10 weeks)

I have no idea how this was considered an addition to the Be A GM mode.. With the slider bottomed out and still seeing this(what would happen with the slider maxed??) the only solution I can think of is to turn injuries on for just one week per month.. maybe even less than that.. and it might simulate a realistic number of injuries.

    Any have a better work-around?

So depth is important in NHL 12 eh?
Sounds frustrating, but really how many players play between 75-82 games a year on each team? 3-4 or so?

As I recall 80% of my injuries last year were from my forwards getting hit with point shots from my own D.

Over 75 on the leafs last year = 11 (includes traded players totals with 2nd team)

Kings: 9 (maybe more with trades accounted for)

Not a single team had 0, or 3... And a lot of those not playing 75+ are due to being scratched, shuffled to minors, etc.. in my sim I had 18 guys locked in to play 82, on real teams maybe 14 have a shot at 82, and most of them play 75+

And I forgot the best part.. in year 2, the only two players to play 80+ were Matthew Lombardi(84DUR, somehow..), and Tim Connolly(72), lol

Keith Aulie, with 85 durability has played 64, 56, and is on pace for less than 50 in year 3.. And seeing as there are so many lower body injuries, I'm thinking it has something to do with shot blocking in the sim engine.. but that's just a guess.

Poor Jordan Eberle broke his arm like 3-4 times from point shots off my D in my 5 season BAGM last yr.

Sorry i kinda skimmed through hes post the best thing you could do is if the players have an injury rating like in madden try raising it to see if that helps

Are you actually trying to be helpful, or just really bored?

Turn them off I guess. I had to do that in Madden. Way too many on there as well. Hopefully they can reduce them with a patch.

Re: Be A GM Injury frequency..

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that none of the "gameplay" sliders have any effect when simming games, so bottoming or maxing out the injuries sliders shouldn't change anything anyway.

At least that's the way it was in previous years, might have changed with the new sim engine.

I'm guessing that leveling up the medical staff slider is our only hope, barring a patch.

I remember them saying that the injuries would be more realistic this year.

But, it sounds like they might have gone simply too far.

Hopefully EAC will listen to the communities, and make some adjustments where needed.

i wonder if this will happen if you DONT SIM and play most of the game. IMHO, i dont really mind if there are injuries or few players played the whole 82 games. hockey is a dangerous sports eh?

Ya, don't get me wrong.. I like injuries and the challenge it adds to BeGM, but within reason..

I usually play the games, this is just a run through to see how the mode works before I start a real one with updated rosters(and probably waiting for the first patch)

Also worth nothing is that a did play about 10 games in year one, that was with the sliders at the current tuner default, and had just as many serious injuries during those games as I did with simmed games. I haven't played a game with the sliders at min.

today's update, I was able to up my medical staff one level below max, and so I turned injuries back on for the last game if the season(I missed the playoffs with the Leafs, +1 for sim accuracy, lol) result:

Clarke MacArthur out 8 weeks with a broken ankle
Keith Aulie out 5 weeks with a broken ankle

Seeing a ton of injuries in my test be a gm so far. All long term too. 2-4 weeks minimum

I really like that injuries in BEAGM are up this year. Imo, they were pretty low in frequency in '11'.

But hopefully they'll get tuned if they are overboard.
