i hate watching nhl in person and only watch pitt sometimes when they are on the versus network. but this game is amazing!! I never saw myself loving to play a hockey game but now look at me lol

In many ways, to me, 11 was not even an improvement over 10 to the offline gamer. You may want to just go with 10.

Hmm, i wonder what gary bettman would think if he read this. The whole point of the NHL signing out its rights to have a game produced is to garner more fans for hockey. The whole purpose is to grow the sport. The quoted statement points to 2 immediate problems with EA's Nhl series. Firstly, the game doesn't create a desire to watch or play real hockey. Secondly, the game must play nothing like real hockey especially since the poster above said "I hate watching the nhl in person." Let me just say that Gary Bettman would not be smiling.

Even more so, its a testimony to how crappy the game is and that its designed to be a bit arcade like. Its not a knock on this guy at all, but by his own admission he is not a real fan of the sport and does not watch it......he is loving the game. That leaves us hockey fans wishing for a sim style NHL: game while drowning in our sorrows.

I wouldn't be able to go back to NHL 11 solely because of the scoring. It's impossible to score on wrist shots (unless they're a glitch shot) in NHL 11 so that makes the game unplayable for me.

I've scored on wristers as well as a couple backhands. Depends what team I play against, though. The better teams stop most, and the poor teams don't.

This is a bad offline game. Terrible AI, boring presentation, etc. Do not get it if you plan to play offline primarily.

However, if you have friends to play the game with you, it can be a lot of fun, despite the many gameplay flaws.

I have several friends here in town who didn't know a thing about hockey when NHL 09 came out.

But I got them playing the series through the EASHL mode, and now they go to at least 10 or so Predators home games a year and watch lots of hockey on TV.

Now, 3 years later, we are thinking about joining an adult recreational hockey league together down at a local rink.

All because I got them interested in the sport with NHL 09.

If you play offline buy 11 and increase the game speed and shot power a bit.

If you play online versus there are still some people playing 11, but much more on 12.

If you want to play EASHL you are stuck with 12, I couldn't find anyone playing 11 last night.


11 is slow out of the box (easily fixed by increasing game speed) and in 12 the body checking and stick checking was toned way down out of the box (messing with sliders cannot replicate the way the game played in 11)

I was yesterday in Ebgames there was none NHL11 copies. Nhl 12 Be a Pro mode is little bit better, than NHL 11. Be a GM mode improved with re sign a player, it is possible that u can play with salary cap on. I would go with NHL 11.

I'm finding NHL12 to be a lot of fun. I think most of the bashers of the game on here are just simply EA haters and would complain about the game no matter what.
