I feel Khan clearly won the fight. The point reductions by the ref were questionable.

Exciting fight though and I look forward to the rematch.

close fight felt it could go either way, 2 pt deductions were a bit much I could see maybe 1 cause Khan was clearly pushing off constantly, however that knockdown was actually a trip so if I give Khan the point back for a push I gotta give peterson the point back for the knockdown with that said peterson would still win.

Knockdown shouldn't have been counted. One of the deducted points of Khan weren't necessary. The two instances were a wash. Lamont won. Great fight. Khan wins the rematch.

Pretty good fight, the ref was garbage though. First he gets in the way and interferes causing a knockdown(a referee should NEVER get in the way like that move the hell out of the way!) then he deducts points for pushing? Seriously, that's not illegal boxers do it all the time. But with all that crap aside, it was great. Khan boxed really well and i liked his handspeed. Peterson showed that he could switch up his style and brawl more, and had some great body shots. I feel like he landed the more powerful shots. Khan landed more combos though. Im happy for peterson though, after hearing what he went through. And it's nice that he'll give him a rematch.

Khan wins this handily without the deductions. I can't help but be happy for Peterson though--- he seems like a real great guy. Khan on the other hand, while understandably upset, came off incredibly immature in his post-fight interview.

actually it appears pushing is illegal as they said in the boradcast, its just not really called except by this ref I guess lol I think 1 deduction would have been fair because he did tell khan to stop a few times before the first deduction, but you cant do that in round 12 with that round potentially deciding the fight.

I believe Khan wins a rematch, hes already more skilled and could probably make the needed adjustments while I believe we would see the same Lamont Peterson. If peterson really wants to take his career to the next level he needs to get a good trainer, maybe a emanuel steward or nazim.

Pushing is illegal. Khan was warned multiple times. He shouldn't have been deducted points twice, perhaps not even once, but we wouldn't have come out with the win either way if the knockdown weren't counted.

Khan's combinations, most of them at least, were little more than "time fillers". They weren't doing anything.

Take away the point deductions and take away the knockdown and it's a draw.

WOW, what a night. Just got home and rewatched the fight. First let me say this. Khan got a raw deal, I mean there was a lot of the forearm to the face and straight up pushing, but that Ref had no business taking points away like that. Thought both the first round "knockdowns" were slips from my vantage point. The second that was scored a KD looked like Khan got to Peterson's legs and took his balance. None the less, Khan should still be the champ. He had his title stolen from him...

                        Having said that.....

...the only reason Peterson was in position to steal it was he fought the fight of his life tonight. Peterson is hometown kid, and I am so happy for him and his camp. Him and his brother have been boxing in DC for a very long time, I couldn't be happier that he got the title. Like I said I know the circumstances are really shady, none the less when the announcer said "and NEW" I felt such a rush of pride and joy. There were 50 year old men bawling their eyes out. It was a good night for the Peterson's and a good night for DC. Khan in the post fight should've IMO acknowledged that Peterson put up a good, fight. It's not like he came out of there with a clean face, he took some shots and Peterson worked his body pretty good.

All in all this was a very fun night. Oh and have we found the next great american heavyweight hope/hype?

I agree. I was torn watching this fight. I wanted Lamont to win for my native Washintonian, but the ref made it a little suspect. Khan displayed some nice handspeed early in the fight, but once Peterson started applying pressure Khans power wasn't as effective off his back foot. I don't know why Khan didn't go to the body throughout the fight, because Peterson went to the body all 12 rounds, and landed some big shots.

I'm happy for Lamont, hopefully he'll hold on to the title for a while, but with a potential rematch with Khan that will most likely happen on neutral soil, or even other fighters in the 140lb division, like Midana, Morales, and even Brandon Rios since he can't make weight at 135..lol.

Of course we have that one staple of a Bob Arum fight with a judge who has the scorecard so one-sided it doesn't make sense.

I'm going to watch the fight again and look out for what Peterson said in the post-fight (Khan pulling down on him). The ref did win him the fight though. Khan wasn't the brightest though to continue pushing AFTER HE ALREADY HAD A POINT TAKEN AWAY.

IMO Khan just isn't that good. He is a C level, maybe a B level on some occasions but he does nothing exceptional well. There was nothing in this fight that made me go WOW. Now Peterson had some good moments, the left hooks to the body were very good. But Khan just doesn't impress me at all.
