    hetfield426's MLB 2K12 Sliders ("50" Theory)

Hello, all. I've had this game for a couple weeks and have been browsing through the other slider threads. I like what some of the creators have come up with, but I felt that none of them were completely realistic in all areas. I think each has brought good ideas to the table, but overall there are some pieces missing to the realism puzzle. So I'm gonna try to fill the holes by introducing my personal theory about the sliders for this game: keeping them as close to 50 as is manageable.

I've noticed that a lot of created slider settings tend to stray far from the number 50, and this has always mystified me. See any ridiculous things happen with a mostly realistic slider set? That's because there are some settings that are too far away from 50. I'm glad to see that some people have given the 2K developers some credit and haven't ripped their default sliders to shreds, and have even used some settings from these defaults, because they're really not terrible. But I'm gonna say that even more credit is deserved. Don't be thrown off by the look of this set, since there are quite a few 50's, but trust me, these will allow the game to be played the way it should be. Don't be afraid of 50. What bothers me the most is as level of difficulty increases (especially in All Star and Legend), some of the sliders (mainly for tendencies) dictate increased frequency rather than increased difficulty. This is not the case if you want realistic baseball. Without further ado, please enjoy and give feedback.

Thank you, solarkill! If you liked the V1 set, you may as well update it to V2, which I think will elevate the realism and fun even further!

I would love more feedback. If anyone has any question at all as to why I have a slider set the way it is, please ask and I will have a reason.

I ended up putting a lot of my original findings from V1 back in, so now the only real changes since then have to do with outfield run speeds.

To make things a little more exciting/interesting, I decided to post the results of a simulated season with my sliders. Let me know what you guys think about the results and if you think they're at all accurate!

There are some interesting sliders, such as Pitch Success: 75 and Strike Zone Tendency: 50 (I think its a great combination, better than mine).

Gee, thanks! I'll tell you that contributing to that decision was seeing your setting of SZT at 50, since everyone else has it at 40. I just thought the Pitch Success should be upped since I was still drawing too many walks from the CPU, and it's worked out beautifully so far!

Thank you much for the feedback, especially since it's coming from a fellow slider maker!

You have the White Sox finishing second, I got a kick out of that

I think this topic deserves more attention, there are some interesting theories and findings that improve the gameplay.

I am trying to mix some ideas of this set that I like (Pitch Success, Strike Zone Tendency, Baserunner speed, Outfield and Infield Throw Speed) with some other findings, and so far the first results have been extremely encouraging...

Haha realize that this was done on one do-or-die simulation franchise of one season. I definitely disagree with that one, especially with all the rising talent from the Indians (wink) and the Royals.

Thank you again for your support, Beetlebum! And this thread I believe is only not getting as much attention due to so many others (including yourself) jumping on it sooner. All your view counts are higher and when someone comes to this forum, they're not gonna look at any sub-1,000 view threads but it'll get there! Let me know what some of your findings are and I'll see if I can integrate them into my set for improved gameplay!

I like what your sliders look like, I haven't played enough games yet to see what else I think needs adjusting from AS default - besides base running, which I have raised to 50.

I'm thinking OF and IF speed down a notch to 15 like you have though as I think the SS dives too much and gets to at least one ball that way per game as well as the 3B catching a bit too many line drives and balls down the line. Also, I saw an OF jump up to catch a smash in the gap, probably should have gotten down - but I need to check his ratings in RF and his speed (since most players have a 100 rating for their primary position).

I'm definitely going to try some of these settings after my series with the Cubs though, so let me know if you change anything. I think default pitch speed for the CPU feels just about right for my skill level at the moment, I usually strikeout 5-8 times per game.

                        Take care..

Thanks for your feedback! And it's possible that I will lower the fielder speeds, like you suggested. And the pitch speed thing is not a mandatory setting, since it doesn't play as much of a role in the outcome of the game.

I haven't lowered them yet.. did lower CPU IF and OF arm to equal the human (50)
