can't icon swap on defense in a 3-player game

I just bought this game for ps3. I tried playing it a friends house yesterday. We tried to do a 3-player exhibition game (2 vs 1) but none of us could icon swap on defense, making the game very hard to play. For 1 vs 1, icon swap worked fine and when we did all of us on the same team (3 vs CPU) icon swap worked fine as well. I really don't understand why its not working because I know it worked fine in nba 2k11.

FWIW, we were playing on an original (backwards-compatible) PS3. Default controls and no position lock.

Maybe you guys were controller locked on one player? I think When you're in a game and then go to my controller and I think it's either controller settings or controller setup and it says if you're locked into a position. I have no idea otherwise lol

I am having this exact same problem with 2k13 on the 360. Specifically with 3 players offline. It makes the game pretty much unplayable for me. Anyone know what the deal is?

I've had this issue since 2K12. It's been broken since then on 360 as well. It seems like a bug, and a massive one, and if it's a design choice, makes no sense because it worked fine in 2K11.

It definitely makes offline multiplayer much more frustrating.

I tweeted Ronny last year and got no response. We should at least try again this year and put this in the bug threw as well.
