Dirt Showdown Impressions

Whats happening OS Dirt crew!?

So I am out of the states at the moment and managed to get this a little early (its apparently been out since Friday on this side of the pond).

Firstly, this is the very first time I got a game prior to release so should I provide proof of purchase? Got this on the PS3 by the way/

Initial impressions: Absolutely gorgeous graphics, best looking racer IMO. Damage model is fantastic. I am sure you folks know that this is a "lite" title and its nothing like the previous Dirt games. Controls are simplified, very responsive.

I haven't seen a single rally event, there's a general racing track for racing (which is probably the most conventional racing mode there is) and I have tried destruction derby which is awesome (older folks of the original DD games on the PC will know what to expect).

You have the usual rally cars (subaru, ford etc..) but I think they can only be used in certain modes (certainly not DD). Fictional cars seem to be the norm for these other modes. Virtually zero customization apart from the liveries change (forget your usual suspension mods, NOS upgrades etc..), pick a car, looks pretty in green and that's it!

I tried a simple capture the flag like mode online, not many people on yet (played with 4 other guys) but tons of fun.

100% arcade racer and good offshoot of the Dirt series I would say.

If you folks have any questions, feel free to shoot and I'll try my best to answer you, bear in mind I am not a racing guru but then again this game is not exactly technical either so not much could go wrong

Right then first negative (IMO): we don't get a cockpit view. You get the bumper and usual 3rd perspective.

Re: Dirt Showdown Impressions

Amazon now has this for under $40 pre-order AND you also get a $10 amazon credit. Wondering if it's worth buying given that I essentially would get the game for $30.

Does the game have 2-player split screen? I would love to play my son in a demolition derby.
