I went to my local Best Buy today to find out if they are having a midnight release of Madden13. This store, I find out, is not. No big deal. BUT, the salesperson I spoke with, who seemed like they didn't even know what a video game was, gave up some info.

I asked about the midnight release on Monday/Tuesday. She goes in back room, and comes back with, "we're getting the game shipped to us Thursday, so you can come in then." I realize immediately I need to take advantage of this and dig deeper. I question this, and she again comes back with the game will be delivered overnight Wednesday. No midnight sale, and that they won't put on shelves until Tuesday the 28th. I sigh, realizing I won't get it early... but then she drops the bomb. She says, "just come Thursday... if we have them in the back, I don't see why I can't sell it to you then."

Hmmm... prob to good to be true.

Most stores have madden already. They just can't sell them until release date.

Just a heads up, I work retail, the register will not let the game go through until its release date EVEN if someone is stupid enough to sell it to you early.

Most places have their copies already or getting them sometime this week.

Yes, this I know...unless, its scanned into system right?

Some years back I used to work retail at a department store... we would occasionally get items that had release dates. Memos all over the place, etc to inform employees not to stock/sell...

But, if that item is entered into the system, which is usually done the night before/hours before a release, it potentially could be sold, right? I'm not sure if maybe things have changed in the last 15yrs....

And I'm telling you, if I get my hands on this same employee, I can all but guarantee I can convince her to scan those games into the system...considering she was doing inventory when I talked to her... she was that naive.

False statement rbowers7 at least at some stores. I know of 2 Big Box retailers that I can walk in and the registers don't flag. Do it all the time
