I've noticed this since the day I first played 2K, contact and leaning layups will never ever ever ever ever go in unless you are playing with a select group of players. It's just ridiculous how if you get this animation, you know you will miss it for sure. It is completely predetermined that you will miss it badly. Unless you are using one of: Lebron, Melo, KD, D Rose, Westbrook, Jordan or Wilkins there is literally no chance of making the shot if there's even the slightest contact. You don't even get foul calls most if the time even though you should, it's pretty broken how if I contest your inside shot there is no hope that it will go in at all.

there are several ... inside, layup, shot in traffic, probably a bit of strength

The gathering shots after you run into a defender hardly ever go in either. If these things are unsuccessful 90% of the time then i agree with OP they should be scrapped.

The leaning layup is one of the worst animations in the game next to the Super-Mario running animation and the contact dribble animation that creates huge space.

Most of them are canned animations and the worst part is the defenders are sliding....... to create contact.

The CPU decides the worst animation layups or slowed shots to help the CPU defend the shots.

If the players if sprinting and beat the defender a quick layup should happen yet 2K's I Robot AI always decide to do slow, canned, and unnecessary layups.

Not to mention non of the player's signature layups happen in this game.

The turnover animations are 10x more annoying though
