Training guidelines

With OSFM now done I am now starting to get into a franchise and could use some tips regarding the new training program in 2013. I could use any general tips you have, but have a few questions specifically:

1. How does auto-training work? I've noticed by default each player is set to auto-not training, will the CPU automatically switch it up to other attributes periodically?

2. If I train manually I was thinking of changing up every 2 weeks, does that sound about right? That would give me roughly 12 different training sessions per season.

3. I was thinking of manually training only players with A or B potentials to save time and auto-training C's or below. Or I could manually train the minors and auto train the MLB roster (or vice-versa), any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Training guidelines

The cpu will change from not training to train in different areas. They will change up the training as the year progresses. I have noticed some people have been training in 1 specific area manually, all season long, to get the most out of that attribute. I personally let the cpu auto-train the players. To me, as the GM, it's like letting the manager do his job, I also let the manager handle the lineups and pitching rotation's too. Whatever feels comfortable for you is the best way to go.

The thing I love about this game is that you can do as much or as little as you want.

Re: Training guidelines

Right now I have turned training off for every one but pitchers (as around 2020 era and hrs start to sky rocket) But I am leaving the pitchers on auto. Auto basically trains all around a little bit in each area. So if you want to train players all around do that but if you want a power hitter or some thing like that train just in power

Re: Training guidelines

i've noticed when training it took about a month of 1 training type to get any sort of stat change, don't know if this is how it works or if it was due to auto-training

Re: Training guidelines

I apolgozize if I'm bumping up this thread, but it seems like the right place to post it.

I've heard that leaving training on could cause some unrealistic stats (HR numbers skyrockets, insanely low ERA, etc) in franchise.

I was wondering if there's a way to turn off the training option in franchise?

Thanks!

I'm at the beginning of my first season and some of my young guys lost a little bit (-1) in few categories, is this normal and they'll bounce back or the start of thier decline?

Re: Training guidelines

I would also like some help with this. I've gone through the first month and haven't seen any improvements in attributes

I've heard that about RTTS but not franchise, I'm in 2025 in mine and leave training on auto and I have seen pretty steady numbers. Only crazy one I saw was one year a player on another team got 59 HR's (crazy for non steroid years) but he went back down to low 40's the next year. The lowest ERA I've seen period is in the high 2's.
