Debate: What constitutes Simulation versus Arcade?

Opinion Survey

Is there a neutral ground for features that are neither SIM nor Arcade?

Which road do you prefer: the road for race purity or do you you prefer the hybrid "best of both worlds"?

Can SIM exist in Arcade and can Arcade coexist in a SIM environment, harmoniously? IF so, how so?

Madden will never be truly Sim; It will be catered to the average gamer. That's how it is & that's how it will always be.

Bottom line IMO is that EA and Tiburon doesn't feel that it's worth the time and effort to make the game more realistic because it is already selling as is, and most people won't even notice or care about the extra effort put in. Devs have deadlines, they want to meet those deadlines so features get axed or dumbed down. On top of that I don't even think the devs care about things looking realistic, they just want the game functioning for the most part, and they want it functioning on time.

The devs think from a casual standpoint, so that's how the game is developed. They have to change that mind frame or nothing will change. Next gen is the true test.

We've had threads like this in the past, but I'll give my answers.

There is no neutral ground for sim and arcade.

I prefer the road of ultra-realism and all unrealism, even as an option, be damned.

Sim and arcade can share a dysfunctional existence in the same game, but there will never be sim in a game that has arcade as its base.
