Any news on when we will see a next gen tennis title?

I'm still too new to the game of tennis to make an accurate assessment on the game play but I'd like to see a few cosmetic changes to Top Spin 5, Wimbledon would be nice maybe being able to edit the colors of your attire also. Commentary.

Re: Next Gen Tennis Title?

I want a much-expanded roster more than anything. Put some more legends, some recent legends, and just more players in general. I think at least the top 10-15 of both ATP and WTA should be included, as well as other significant players (like Venus, who's outside the top 20...but come on, it's freakin' Venus Williams).

Make doubles more...existent. I'd like to see some doubles specialists like the Bryan Brothers, Daniel Nestor, Lisa Raymond, and such in the game. Doubles play should be more existent in career mode too.

In fact, I think Career Mode could be even better. Look at Smash Court Tennis 3, a game that I think has a wonderful career mode (called Pro Tour mode). You can rise to the rankings in singles, doubles, and/or mixed doubles. I want to be able to do that.

Re: Next Gen Tennis Title?

In all honesty there are a lot of gameplay elements that needed to be added.

I think that the animation system is getting kinda tired and is frustrating. Players should run off a natural physics system with foot planting, allowing for more movement on the court and the ability to use your footwork to open up shots for yourself instead of hoping you get a good animation.

Weight and speed don't really play into the game enough, as well as height. Top Spin would greatly benefit if certain heights and weights impacted the ability to achieve certain ratings.. So a 6,5 guy weighing 15 stone would not be able to manouvre around the court as well as a 5,11 10 stone guy, but would have a bigger margin for powerful shots.

Differentiating players' abilities through natural physics would really help the game and should stop cheese, especially if ball physics were improved.

The timing and shot system is great but it really needs a LOT more animations.

I find that currently you can get stuck in an animation instead of allowing your player to branch from it and adjust.
Trying to really rush and attack a ball in the air is almost fruitless as players cannot approach a ball unless already in an animation, meaning if the wrong animation triggers your shot is completely ruined and the point may last unnecessarily long. The opposite can happen too where people can get miraculous shots with ridiculous power from terrible angles that they shouldn't be able to make which is a fundamental flaw of the animation system.

The fact that there are only a handful of signature animations for professionals and few stock animations for created players really makes the game feel a little bit stale after a while.

I'd also love some more natural ball physics to be implemented and a more noticeable stamina system.

I think that the game needs to have sliders to allow for more unforced errors and bad serves should we want them.

Graphically the game could do with a touch up just for next gen and the inclusion of a boat load of new products to buy with your player during career mode.

Customisations should be deepened and there should be way more outfits for current players that will get triggered depending on what their opponent is playing (to stop clashes) Likewise created players should have 3 slots to create pre sets in that can be switched through before games, and they should have court entrance attire too (such as a coat, jacket, towel, etc.)

The roster is pretty good but could do with some smaller name people just to populate the career mode, or some slots to insert created players into the career mode a bit like Fight Night had a couple years back.

These are some of my ideas for a possible Top Spin 5... but I'm slightly concerned at the lack of mention of a next gen tennis title, especially considering how Virtua Tennis is almost always a next gen release title?
