Creating Jim Tressel

I am looking to create Jim Tressel to head coach either a team builder squad or a 1* squad in NCAA 14. Just something extra to spice up the NCAA coaching carousel in dynasty mode, or a cool way to start a dynasty with a proven winner at a lower level (road to redemption type story). My first question would be this: When tallying records, bowls, championships, etc. do we also include his time spent as a head coach at FCS Youngstown State? Also, in an unbiased manner, how would you rate him? Would love the community's help with this, as here I am at this point:

First Name: Jim
Last Name: Tressel
Skin Tone: Light
Body Size: S
Head
Apparel: Polo
Hat Type: None
Glasses: Yes
Alma Mater: IRL Baldwin Wallace; in game: Akron? Ohio State?
Level: ?
Age: 60
Specialty: OFF

* The next section is purely based on whether or not we decide to include his previous coaching experience at FCS/1-AA & if we include the adjustments made by the NCAA following the sanctions. Without sanctions it looks like the following:

Years Coached: 10 DIV-1 / 15 DIV 1-AA
Wins: Overall 229
Losses: Overall 79
Winning Seasons: Overall 21
Longest Winning Streak: ?
Rival Wins
Rival Losses
Top 25 Wins
Top 25 Losses
Bowl Wins: 6 Div-1
Bowl Losses: 4 Div-1
Conference Championships: Depends on DIV-1/1-AA
National Championships: Depends on DIV-1/1-AA

Average Recruiting Class Rank
Top 25 Classes
Coach of the Year Awards
Heisman Winner
Player Awards
All-Americans

Offensive Style: ?
Offensive Playbook: ? - Some pistol mostly under-center run based?
Run Offense/Pass Offense: Run-heavy?
Aggressive/Conservative: More conservative
Sub Frequency: ?
CPU No-Huddle Style: ?
Defensive Style: ?
Defensive Playbook: 4-3?
Defend Run/Defend Pass: ?
Aggressive/Conservative: ?
Sub Frequency: ?

How would you not put him in a sweater vest?

Re: Creating Jim Tressel

Should of included this too...

You would only include FBS numbers... Its a different league all together...

I would put some type of spread as his offense... Maybe look at Cal's playbook... or even Texas, OU something to that effect... a decently balanced throwing and running shotgun style...

19-game streak, twice. 67 players drafted, one Heisman winner, coach of the year 1x, 17 all Americans, 10 major player awards (not including the Heisman).

Filling in some of the blanks for you. Wikipedia should cover you for confirmation and the rest (search for both Tressel and Ohio State Buckeyes Football for those two pages). Scout and Rivals should get you some, but probably not all, of the recruiting history you need.

Re: Creating Jim Tressel

As Renard stated, Division 1-AA Records have no business being included.

Due to the way the game is set up, this is what his primary states should be.

Years Coached: 17
Wins: 150
Losses: 57
Winning Seasons: 14
Longest Winning Streak: 19
Rival Wins: 30
Rival Losses: 6
Top 25 Wins: 34
Top 25 Losses: 15
Bowl Wins: 7
Bowl Losses: 5
Conference Championships: 7
National Championships: 1

Average Recruiting Class Rank:
Top 25 Classes:
Coach of the Year Awards: 1
Heisman Winner: 1
Player Awards: 12
All-Americans: 17 / 28

I didn't feel like doing the Recruiting Class.

Tin, would you post your final results here when you have them? I think this is an intriguing idea.

A typo initially; the sweater vest is a must.

I'm going to stick to DIV-1 stats only, as many of you have recommended. When it comes to his overall rating, I would have to refer to how some of the top-tier coaches were rated in the community's roster set. During his tenure at tOSU, he was widely considered a top 10 coach, but if he were to come back today (with all of the "scandal" that led to his resignation), how would he be rated? This is something to consider.

Going to do some more research on the missing fields, and will post a finalized version soon!

If we're not including FCS/1-AA, wouldn't we only look at his tenure at Ohio State? If so, it would look something like this (excluding NCAA adjustment made post-scandal):

Years Coached: 10
Wins: 106
Losses: 22
Winning Seasons: 10
Longest Winning Streak: 19

(Will treat rivals as Michigan, Penn State & Wisconsin)
Rival Wins: 23
Rival Losses: 8
Top 25 Wins: Having a hard time finding this
Top 25 Losses: Having a hard time finding this
Bowl Wins: 6
Bowl Losses: 4
Conference Championships: 7
National Championships: 1
