NHL14 Player Face Suggestions - Help Us!

Help us create more accurate rosters for the NHL 14 Revamped project.

EDIT: For reference, the most complete list of facial edits is available at the following link:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...w0/mobilebasic

I have continued tinkering with appearances and adding players since that list was last updated, but I will update it in the coming days so that the revamped rosters are as accurate as possible.

I'm currently using the editor to go through the entire database for the game and edit the appearance of all the players who don't look like themselves. It's a daunting task because, while I am fairly familiar with the regulars on every team in the league, I'm not going to remember every facial detail of every player. This means that as I go through the list I am doing a google image search of each player and comparing their appearance to the faces in the game (I have my PS3 on in the creation center while I work in the database; I'm literally just searching a player, grabbing the controller and then going through the game to find an appropriate face).

Anyhow, I figured that you all should know the players on the teams you cheer for a bit better than I know them. For example, when it came time to edit the Rangers' faces, I breezed through it because that's my team. So, what I'd really appreciate, if you want this project to move a bit faster (I've only done 10 teams so far, and I'll go back to the ones I've completed if I get good suggestions), is if you're unhappy with the appearance of certain players on your team go through the game, make note of the faces you think are more appropriate and post up a list on here of the players and what faces you think they should have. You don't have to stick to the guys on your NHL roster; you can do prospects and guys in your system as well.

Once you do that, I can easily convert the face #s you provide into the code the database uses and go through the entire league applying the edits. It won't take anyone particularly long to do their own team, but it takes me about 30-60 minutes per team with looking up all of the player and prospects for accuracy.

Face # 104 is 10103. You guys can just provide the face number; I'll convert it myself. This is just in case you wanted to check the edits I've already done in the game.

Re: NHL14 Player Face Suggestions - Help Us!

I just wanted to add, it doesn't matter how insignificant the player is or how long shot of a prospect they are. If you make a suggestion for a new face for them I'll change it. If they're a really insignificant AHL call up type guy though, and you don't make a suggestion, I'll probably skip them because of the time it would take to look them up and find a good face. But anything you suggest, no matter who the player, will get in the game.

Re: NHL14 Player Face Suggestions - Help Us!

Thanks for doing this, the revamped project has me really excited. One thing I want to ask you, though- what field name have you been using to change player faces? Here's a photo of Crosby's db id that archibalduk posted in your other thread:

Notice how DaPp (head id), Nzao (audio), and mOl (art id) are all 1082 in field value. I'm guessing that's the number that corresponds to Crosby specific commentary and facial detail... what I'm trying to get at here is that if you play around with mOl you might be able to give someone else Crosby's cyberface, assuming that is the field name that changes actual player faces, correct? I suggest you try that and let us know if that works...

I'm getting ahead of myself here but in theory and with enough time you might be able to find the cybers of not only Crosby, or other players who have them, but any other players not shown in the game who are still lingering in the database because of them previously being in the series. So for example if Joe Sakic or Mike Modano, who were in NHL 09 and had real faces, were still in the database, you could take their head id's and slap them on a created player and voila, 2 new legends...

Re: NHL14 Player Face Suggestions - Help Us!

It's super easy to figure out the code of everyone's cyber. They follow a different pattern. I could give everyone on Pittsburgh Sid's face right now if I wanted. I haven't found the hidden players yet but I will be looking. I've only been working in the NHL and prospect pools so far.

Re: NHL14 Player Face Suggestions - Help Us!

Just got home from two-a-days in the gym. I've got practice in 5 hours, but now I'm working on the faces again in between. Edited the list up top with some new additions.

I could really use/appreciate some help, even if your team is already done, if anyone wants to grab a team like Anaheim, Boston, Buffalo, etc. (teams from the beginning of the alphabet so we don't overlap) and look through the faces in game/the portraits on the website to make some suggestions. It speeds things up tremendously when you can just input the data and don't have to research each face.
