2K4 Unplayable on PS3?

So I picked up 2K4 and have run into a huge problem where once the first quarter ends, it doesn't go to the second quarter. The camera just stays on the ref for minutes until it zooms out and the scoreboard graphic says pregame and the players just leave the field.

Is there anyway to fix this or did I waste $4?

There's probably an error when reading the disk so try to clean it off I recommend Windex and a paper towel and even if it can't read the disk after that try out 2K5 or 2K8 they are also great games that I know I have a lot of fun with.

I have both and enjoy them very much, but I heard 2k4 has better draft AI (it does) and better DB and QB AI, so I thought I would try it out. Sometimes I can get it to progress past the first quarter, but it's inconsistent.

I'll try cleaning the disc. I didn't see any scratches, but I'll try. Thanks.
