NCAA 14 Xbox360 Texture Pack
I bought the game from the recent sale for $15, however this was a download. Does the disc version have the same or better graphics then the download? This game looks really bad compared to NCAA 11, a game which I played a lot. It's very noticeable from the start, almost if the graphics were lowered to reduce the file size. Is this the best it gets or am I missing something?Tags: None -

Nope. For some reason, EA does not seem to put a ton of emphasis on graphics for the sports games.Comment

If you wanna see how the graphics look in photographs, there's probably no better place on the web than here:

Are you playing in the 2013 season mode?
I'm on xbox and playing a 2013 season as cpu vs. cpu and the graphics are rather bland. However, if I step back to the home menu and play a Play Now game (still cpu vs. cpu} then the grasphics are much better. Much better reflection/shine and more detail. The game uses the same camera view for both so it doesn’t make any sense.Comment

EA's focus changed from graphics to gameplay/presentation. And for whatever reason they always backtrack and delete things instead of improving on what they've already done.Comment

They only do the bare minimum. They could have gone the Battlefield route and included an install disc for better graphics, but they don't have to push that hard for sales.Comment

Not only is that an irrelevant question, it makes you look like a fanboy.Don't be a fanboy.
EA Sports was/is complacent. Madden is lazy. NCAA Football is lazy. NBA Live is one of the worst sports games ever made. Knowing that you don't have to push the limits for sales is why their sales for these games continue to shrink. You can only trick people into buying the same thing so many times before they decide to stick with what they have.Last edited by SpeedyMikeWallace; 01-19-2014, 02:24 PM.Comment

In other words, you can't.
The fact that that you can't provide an single example of a multi disc conosole sports title suggests that there might be factors at work here other than "laziness".EA Sports was/is complacent. Re: NCAA 14 Xbox360 Texture Pack
This is simply poor logic: Because someone hasn't done = it can't be done. EA could do it. So could Sony. So could 2K. However, no one has an incentive to do it, either because they own monopolies in the majority of their sports titles or they're content with their market share.
EA Sports
FIFA
Madden
NBA Live
NCAA Football
NHL
2K
NBA
MLB
Sony
MLB: The Show
Konami
Pro Evolution Soccer
Now, what is the best rated and most popular sports game on that list? FIFA. Why? EA is pushed to beat Pro Evolution, which was routinely outselling it and outperforming it in ratings until recently. It's better because they are driven to not relinquish their market share. However, they know Konami isn't as heavily invested in Pro Evo, so there's no drive to do something like go to a two-disc format, unlike what you see in BF vs COD.
None of this however, means that if EA weren't lazy, if they weren't content with their monopoly on football games, they could include a graphics install, just like anything else. There's nothing unique about sports titles that prevents it.Last edited by SpeedyMikeWallace; 01-19-2014, 07:07 PM.Comment

My perception comes from their long standing practice of charging full price for games produced with minimal effort.Comment
