Time To Shake Things Up: A New Breed Of Dynasty: Discussion Thread
Welcome to a new breed of dynasty on Operation Sports, unlike what you'll ever have seen before.
I'm reinventing the world of basketball, rebuilding the ruins of the NBA's not-so-distant future. A future that is bleak and lacking of stars, but when a rival league opens up that offers a new, fresh take on pro ball, a power struggle ensues unlike any we've seen in professional sports. Basketball will burst back onto the national stage as a major sport for the first time in decades from that point.
This is just the discussion thread, and its really an anything goes, brainstorming session. The actual dynasty may not be for a while, because there is so much that will be going into it and still more to figure out. So if you've got anything that you want to talk about, go right ahead. I''m interested to hear what you guys have to say. Although I already have team names and a league name for the new league. But, if you wanted to, say, relocate a current NBA team for the future (other than the Bucks, who I've already decided to move to Seattle in the future) because the landscape of the league is different in the later 2000s(The year will likely be roughly 2050-2060), then that's fine by me.
As for cities that are off limits for relocation because a planned 'other league' team is going to be there:
Hartford, Connecticut
Long Island, New York
Providence, Rhode Island
Baltimore, Maryland
Raleigh, North Carolina
Buffalo, New York
Richmond, Virginia
Birmingham, Alabama
Jacksonville, Florida
Louisville, Kentucky
Nashville, Tennessee
Tampa Bay, Florida
Cincinnati, Ohio
Colombus, Ohio
Des Moines, Iowa
Omaha, Nebraska
St. Paul, Minnesota
Albuquerque, New Mexico
Austin, Texas
Las Vegas, Nevada
Tulsa, Oklahoma
Anaheim, California
Fresno, California
San Diego, California
San Jose, California
Vancouver, British Colombia, Canada
And I want to move the Nets out of Brooklyn, but I have no ideas as to where.
The New NBA divisional alignment would be this:
East:
Southeast:
Miami
Orlando
Charlotte
Atlanta
New Orleans
Central:
Chicago
Indiana
Cleveland
Detroit
Toronto
Atlantic:
Boston
New York
Brooklyn (or wherever they move to)
Philadelphia
Washington
West:
Southwest:
OKC
Memphis
San Antonio
Houston
Dallas
Northwest:
Portland
Minnesota
Denver
Utah
Seattle (formerly Milwaukee)
Pacific:
LA Lakers
LA Clippers
Golden State
Sacramento
Phoenix
That division alignment is tentative and subject to change with the potential for more relocations.
As for the new League, the divisions will look like this:
Eastern Conference:
Eastern Division (equates to Atlantic Division):
Brooklyn
Hartford
Long Island
Manhattan
Providence
Coastal Division (equates to central, because there is no central division, most of those teams are in the west):
Baltimore
Raleigh
Washington DC
Richmond
Buffalo
Southern Division (equates to southeastern division)
Birmingham
Jacksonville
Louisville
Nashville
Tampa Bay
Western Conference:
Midwest Division: (geographically the central division, but represents the northwest compared to NBA division-by-division)
Cincinnati
Columbus
Des Moines
Omaha
St. Paul
Frontier Division (Southwest):
Albuquerque
Austin
Las Vegas
Salt Lake (I would like to move Utah as well)
Tulsa
Western Division (Pacific):
Anaheim
Fresno
San Diego
San Jose
Vancouver
Also, just a heads up, I'd like to give credit to Jaha32 on the forums over at sportslogos.net for making the logos for the teams. I found them one night surfing the web and then inspiration struck on this series to use them about 3 months ago or so. I never got to explicitly ask permission to use the logos, because he hasn't posted on the thread with the logos since 2012, and I can't get to his profile page on there either. I reached out to him via private messaging on the site with no response yet . I'm sure he wouldn't have minded, since I am giving him full credit for the logos and teams (as well as the league name and logo).
I'll have the logos up an a future post, but I'm procrastinating a little with hopes of him responding soon.
Also, while this isn't a CAP dynasty, (though an interactive GM dynasty isn't out of the question even if its not my first choice), I do obviously need players to fill my league and the future NBA, so I have no problem if you post them, but it won;t be interactive in that regard.

Other people have run future leagues like this before (see: NBL: 2077, for example), however, I intend to run mine differently, and for it to be much more expansive then anything I've ever seen on this site. This could go in a lot of directions to, so feel free to post any ideas you see fit, because, again, this is like a big brainstorm, since there is so much room for ideas, because I plan on it being a big project that covers a large scale look at the world of basketball, and I have to build it all up from essentially scratch since the NBA is in its Dark Ages and the New League (No it won't be called The New League, im still pending some type of communication with jaha32 to see if he is against me using his logos) is in it's infancy.
A brand new era of basketball awaits, so lets try to make it the best we can.
