Cycloniac's 12 Minute CPUvCPU "Real Feel" Sliders

While many may recognize me from the NHL forum, basketball was my first love. I picked up NBA 2k14 with my PS4 around Christmas time, and have been tweaking the game since - first playing versus the AI, now for AIvsAI games.

I think I am finally satisfied with the results, so I've decided to share them. Even for those of you who prefer playing against the CPU; I think you may get some ideas based upon the settings I'm using. Enjoy!

NOTE: It is STILL possible to play CPUvCPU games in season and MyGM. I am sure it is for PS4 because it is the console I use, and should work similairly on XB1. PM me for instructions.

Game Settings
Last updated 7/31/14
Original values in parenthethees.

Difficulty: All-Star* (Pro)
Game Style: Simulation (changes to Custom)
Quarter Length: 12 Minutes
Shooting Type: Real Player %
Free Throw Shooting Type: Real Player %
Game Speed: 50
Free Throw Difficulty: 50

Sliders
The same values are entered for both the User and CPU, just in case the User values have any influence at all on the CPU values.

OFFENSE
Inside Shot Success: 20
Close Shot Success: 35
Mid-Range Success: 47
3PT Success: 48* (47)
Layup Success: 50
Dunk In Traffic Frequency: 65 (50)
Dunk In Traffic Success: 50
Pass Accuracy: 40 (Turnovers)
Alley-Oop Success: 50
Contact Shot Success: 45 (And-1s don't happen every time now)

DEFENSE
Driving Contact Shot Frequency: 100* (95)
Inside Contact Shot Frequency: 100 (Expect contact down low)
Layup Defense Strength (Takeoff): 100* (55) - Helps limit points in the paint, especially putbacks.
Layup Defense Strength (Release): 100* (55)
Jump Shot Defense Strength (Gather): 100* (55)
Jump Shot Defense Strength (Release): 100*(35)
Help Defense Strength: 100 - Excellent spacing and ball movement
Steal Success: 20 (Steals still occur for marquee defenders)

ATTRIBUTES
Quickness: 45* (70)
Vertical: 15* (25)
Strength: 100 (Helps with driving the lane and running the pick and roll)
Stamina: 65 (Necessary for 12 minute quarters)
Durability: 50
Hustle: 100 (Players will go after loose balls)
Ball Handling: 50 (40) - Helps with offensive flow and player movement
Hands: 20 (Ball is loose)
Dunking Ability: 50
On-Ball Defense: 0* (40) - Helps prevent the CPU from overusing the Play Physical Point of Emphasis, and decreases suction.

Offensive Awareness: 100 (Smart, tactical offensive sets)
Defensive Awareness: 50 (Contrast in skill of defenders will be more evident)
Offensive Rebounding: 30*(55)
Defensive Rebounding: 35* (55) - The better rebounders will gobble up boards e.g. Aldridge, Randolph
Consistency: 75* (50) - Better players will now play to their attributes more often, and are capable of taking over games.
Fatigue Rate: 45* (35) - Works in tandem with the Stamina attribute, so same logic applies
Injury Frequency: 15* (50)
Injury Severity: 25* (50)

TENDENCIES
Take Inside Shots: 0
Take Close Shots: 0
Take Mid-Range Shots: 0
Take 3PT Shots: 100
Post Shots: 0
Attack the Basket: 0
Look for Post Players: 0

Offensive attack tendencies will be driven by attributes. Players still attack the basket, shoot from mid-range, and feed the post/attack down low. 3PT Shots has to be at 100 as players will not shoot threes with it lower. Even so, it will not be a 3PT fest; 3PT attempts are still kept in realistic ranges.

Throw Alley-Oops: 20* (10) - You will see the occasional alley-oop in the right situation
Attempt Dunks: 40 (Players layup more often than dunk in the NBA)
Play Passing Lanes: 40
Attempt Putbacks: 50
Go for On-Ball Steals: 35 (Still happens occasionally, but is not overdone)
Contest Shots: 100 (Helps with foul calls)
Backdoor Cuts: 50* (100)

FOULS
Over the Back: 55
Charging: 100
Blocking: 100
Reaching: 50 (Doesn't happen very often in the NBA, at all)
Shooting: 100
Loose Ball: 100

Suggested Camera Settings (NBA on TNT Inspired):
Generic Broadcast Camera
Zoom: 6
Height: 5

Just tried these.....these work really well........ Great job!

Great animations, great logic by CPU as far as offensive awareness goes.

Good balance of fouls and turnovers

Good job

I am a huge CPU vs CPU guy and seeing this post had me wanting to hug you. I thought I was alone in this world

I too have been tweaking cpu vs cpu games since November and just recently finally gave up due to never being able to fix "points in the paint" among other issues....I am going to try these later because I am seeing things I never thought of

Re: Cycloniac's 12 Minute CPUvCPU "Real Feel" Sliders

Just watched Bulls vs Bobcats with these sliders and the only things that stood out were:

-Not enough 3pt attempts
-Too many free throws
-Not one dunk

other than that, phenominal

3pt attempts vary by team. I know the Bulls don't shoot many.

Glad you're enjoying them though.
