    Analog hitting changed or not?

Last night watching the twitch stream I found something interesting and it's driving me nuts...

Ramone and the other devs talked about how they changed the hitting interface, simplifying the analog hitting controls. However this is a big, unwanted change for me.

I've been using the analog hitting & pitching exclusively since it was introduced a few years ago and I'm so used to always pulling back the right analog stick for a stride and moving it forward for a swing. Now, they say, you don't have to pull back (stride) for contact and normal swings.

Do you think, or have there been any indications, that the previous system is still in place and this is just another option to use, or they completely changed the analog interface and you can't go back to what you are used to.

This is the biggest question for me regarding MLB 15 The Show and this needs clarification BIG TIME!

I would appriciate Ramone to give us a word (I know this is gonne be the topic in one of the streams, but an earlier answer would be nice)

    Thank you!

It has changed. You do not determine the stride portion anymore. So for a normal swing you just push up from idle, flick left or right for a contact swing and down then up for a power swing.

This is bad news then... It is going to be a real pain in the *** to get used to the new system.

2 years ago I remember Ramone saying to be proud of having all the control options from past years. He also said, that they always tried to add to it and not taking away options.

For me, this is a letdown

They did not take analog away they changed the process. I understand you are disappointed though.

I'm still going to buy the game, and it's still going to be the best sports game as always. It's just dissapointing

I know, that analog hitting was not used by too many people and maybe they wanted it to appeal for more players. It just s*cks for those who liked it as it was.

Still hope they gonna bring it back

I thought it was just an option to use the one-flick analog system... maybe I misheard

              Me too!
              No more stride seriously?!
Man that felt so natural. I don't know just flicking the stick up doesn't do it for me. 2K had that (tried it in a demo few gears ago) and really wasn't feeling it!
Total bummer if this is true

There is no stride performed by the user.

                  Up early huh?

I have never been an analog user before, but I feel the changes "feel" better and make the mechanic more user friendly.

How do you know this btw? It was not obvious from the twitch stream. Have you been to CD this year too?

I believe that they focused also on that the changes have not been finalized, yet. They said to flick right prior to the swing or press O for a contact swing, so they may just do flick left for power. This would actually be great as it means you don't have to move your thumb off of the stick. But, like I said, not finalized yet. You may still have the option of pulling back for a stride. We just have to wait and see.

                          Wait, what?

I heard there was an option for no stride, but didn't hear it was removed completely.

I've only ever used Zone + Analog since I started playing the The Show. Like others said, Striding just feels natural. All the other hitting options feel basic and dated.

Edit: Though I guess, you can still do the striding motion with the Analog if you want. And now you won't be penalized for "Bad Stride" which has always been kind of broken.

Was listening to the stream again to understand this...

My theory is, that they added analog input option for timing hitting, meaning you don't have to stride (just like timing hitting) and you can select contact, normal, hard swing type by flipping the right stick left, down, right before swinging (up)

Maybe this it just analog input option for timing hitting... and maybe analog hitting with analog input (what else?) is still in the game.

Altought, nemesis is usually well informed, I wonder where he got the info...

No it's not selecting your swing type before swinging. You do a normal swing by pushing up, a contact swing by flipping right or left and down and up to make a power swing.
