Return of the coach help defense slider is a must for 2K17

I think it's time for this slider to make Its return to let us determine for ourselves how aggressive the teams help defense is....

I think it disappeared in 2K14 and hasn't been back since...I'm assuming that right now it's built into the team concept?

Anyone else agree?

I agree. There's some general adjustments that I would like to make, and I don't think the POE changes are having that much affect. For example, how much of an impact is "Crash offensive boards" if the default coaching slider is at 10?

I honesty am not a huge fan of POEs....it's honestly more of a hassle keeping them off auto, lol

Id take the older coaching settings in a heartbeat

100% agree! I actually believe it was 2k12 or 2k13 when they first took it out, but either way it has been gone too long.

I really have no idea why it was taken out. It seems kind of fundamental to team D. The saving grace is that I didn't notice that it had been removed because help was for the most part adequate when they removed it. Now it's not and gets exposed when perimeter defense fails.

If it's part of ACE, then ACE needs to be heavily adjusted. Help defensive rotations are such a basic thing.

I agree OP.
The help D is not good this year.
If I want to assign a player to NOT leave is assignment I should be able to do that.
Even with poe I never feel like I have total control of how I want my team to defend.
This ratings based game play needs to be seriously looked at.

help D is broken this year, every game my CPU defense leaves the AI wide open and they never miss open shots, unlike you

I have to agree I think this is a must. I think the reason it was taken out was people would set the help to 100 and tight and deny and you were not properly penalized for playing like this. It could work extra cheesy on last gen I guess 2K13 or 12 one of those two.

It appears they are trying to lump everything into pick and roll defense IQ and the default IQ is not high enough for it to make sense to realistic defense for the AI.

The one thing I noticed that helped a lot is to do the following

  • set all to double on drives
  • set pre rotate on almost everyone
  • set defense POE to protect the paint
I did this with the Wizards and this was the best I saw not perfect but the best. Guys were actually trying to protect the paint going for strips it was very different. I noticed this last night. I think the pre rotate is the one that actually gets guys to rotate somewhat better.
