Worst pre-release marketing ever for sports game?

I mean why all this secrecy? They want people to pre-order the game which releases in less than 20 days. Up to now of course there will be no demo, no gameplay footage, no changes related to the modes of the game etc. Just some hints here and there. Don't get me wrong, I am not going to search for any different site. But previous releases at least had some news.

Especially in some modes like myteam, last year was embarrassing. Wrong badges, late releases, repetitive challenges , historical players not even released until playoffs were already over. Even in play now online they could split the teams in more than 3 tiers including historical teams and get matched up only against similar rated teams to avoid playing the Warriors every time

I fully understand that there is no basketball competition from another game but this is getting ridiculous. All in all 2k will lose some customers that may turn to another sports game if someone loves both. I am from Europe. I also enjoy football ( I prefer basketball though) Fifa includes new graphics engine 300 teams fully updated and a demo. 2k has included Euroleague teams since 2years ago with previous years rosters. It is pathetic

Developers are making such a good work for 2k and then all this work is being so mitigated by poor execution. The list would go on and on. I will not buy 2k17 for sure not before a Christmas discount or anything and after full reviews in here and a couple of first patches.

Nope. For sure not before Christmas and only if I get 360 positive reviews in OS. And what if I do? Does it make it right that they are asking you to prebuy a product under such secrecy?

It's not perfect by any means but it's still the best sports game every year IMO.

I completely agree. It's pathetic that WWE 2k comes out on Oct 11th and we have seen more official gameplay of that game than NBA 2k. I've honestly never seen anything like the handling of the marketing side of this game. No official gameplay, no updates on some crucial questions we all have. All the stuff we've seen (almost) is just heresay from other sources or ghetto gamescom footage. I already have it pre-ordered and I really hope I don't regret it.
