AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

Hi again everyone!

Below are the sliders I use right now in NHL 17. With all the new sliders available this year and their 0-100 values, it gives us a lot of options to tune the game exactly the way we want it to play. I will be making tweaks while I continue playing and I will try to keep this post as updated as possible to reflect the changes I make. Latest updates will also be shown at the bottom of this post to make it easier to follow.

I tried to get a good mix of fun and realism, with a sloppy gameplay and a lot of loose pucks. Like every year, according to your skill level, you can play on All-Star or Superstar difficulties. If it becomes too easy, you may also increase CPU Difficulty Adjustment by a few clicks. You can play the game on 6 to 8 minutes periods (I suggest you to play 8 minutes if you want to get more realistic stats).

And don't be afraid to adjust things to your liking or needs, these sliders are only there as a base. Have fun!

Note: I suggest you to raise puck control for both Human and CPU before the beginning of a shootout.

Re: AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

Sliders look real solid. At a quick glance I would say it's similar to what I have been testing. Gunna plug these in later and give them a try. The slider for example that's for size and speed effecting body checks, does 35 mean size/speed matters more than they would at say 75 or less.

Re: AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

The higher the value for the Checking Size Effect and Speed Effect, the more size and speed matter. I already increased them from their default values (25 to 35 for Size, 33 to 35 for Speed), but I don't want to increase values too drastically at a time, I go progressively when I don't see anything wrong with it. For example, what fears me a little bit about the Size Effect slider is that I want bigger guys to be solid, but I don't want them to become invincible either. It's always a bit touchy. I will continue testing these sliders in the future and chances are good that these values will still be increased progressively.

Re: AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

Thanks man been waiting for these I seem to always your starting sliders as a base and gradually adjust things as I play more games. I went and jacked up a bunch of the penalties to see if the sliders worked and they do. I had 14 pps against Buffalo in the season opener, I'm going to start toning them down a little bit I think lol

Re: AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

LOL good to know man, I actually played my season opener against Buffalo tonight too! A 4-2 win in which there were 4 penalties total, 2 for both teams. So, I will still have to work on penalties sliders, trying to get a bit more. However, I don't think I will try jacking it up as much as you, because 14 PPs is a bit too much for my liking loll. Keep me informed of your future tests with penalties if you are able to find a good mix on your side.

Re: AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

Man, these are so much different than mine. Lol

I had to nerf my goalies a bit as they were constantly being o outperformed by the cpu and my penalty sliders are also much higher,, nearly maxed across the board and I'm seeing 6-8 calls per game.

Question: I'm not very happy with goal variety for myself as it seems the one timer has been made overly difficult. Having terrible getting any decent cycle going down low and skill goals are extremely hard to come by. How has that been for you guy's?

Re: AlTito's NHL 17 Sliders

Played a game with these last night and it was by far the most fun I've had playing the NHL series since '11 so first off I wanted to say thank you!

I honestly wasn't even paying attention to how the sliders were functioning because I was having so much fun! I'll get some more games in over the weekend and try to give some feedback

I scored many goals on one timers on Wednesday when I first got the game, I really had no problem with it at that time, I remember especially one with Malkin on one knee in the high slot which was great. I lowered passing quite a bit since then to make the game sloppier. Right now, one timers are really difficult, so I may still increase Pass Assist or Pass Reception Ease a bit. However, we have to say that beautiful one timer goals are not happening often in real life either. Most of the goals scored in today's NHL are on screened shots, deflections or rebounds, so we have to take that into account. Getting a good mix of fun and realism is not always an easy task.
