Re: The Lions Den
Lions Defense Engineers Week One Shutout Victory
Andrew Luck throws 7 Interceptions in Loss
Andrew Luck to put it simply, had an abysmal day
On the road in Indianapolis, the Lions defense started off the 2016 SFL Season the right way. While the Colts may not have the most talented offense, they do possess stars such as Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton, and Donte Moncrief, yet that offensive unit managed zero points this week.
When looking through the stat sheet for a game MVP for the Lions, there wasn't one to be found. The offense was stagnant (to put it nicely), and while the defense made plays throughout the game, there wasn't one shining star. So, through process of elimination, Andrew Luck gets the nod for Lions Game MVP.
Luck completed seven passes to Lions defenders; DeAndre Levy, Tahir Whitehead, Glover Quin, Nevin Lawson, Darius Slay Jr., and Quandre Diggs all caught passes from Luck with the latter catching two. Despite the seven interceptions however, the Lions only managed 23 points and quarterback Matthew Stafford was sacked four times and had two turnovers himself (an interception and a fumble).
The ferocious defense shut out the Colts and forced seven turnovers, and now must turn their focus to next week's opponent, the 1-0 Tennessee Titans.
