Hello, everyone—welcome back to the madness that is FIFA Custom Team Tactics. I skipped last year, as tactics did not seem to have much of an impact—however, this year seems to show promise.

Projec10 is something I've dreamed of doing for a few years now, and it's finally taking shape. We're leaving the spreadsheet behind and venturing into a stand-alone website/tactics database. When I'm not messing around with tactics I'm a full-time designer and developer, but this doesn't feel like work as much as it feels like a hobby.

The meaning of Projec10 is just a clever way to spell Project 10—ten outfield players, and we give those outfield players instructions, and more them into different places of the field.

As I said, the project is still in the early stages, but I have several tactics complete. Next step is to continue to put them on the site, as well as expand the site itself. The goal will be a site in which other contributors can log in and enter tactics. It's not too far off, and will eventually happen.

Keep checking back here for updates, as I'll post whenever new tactics go up. Be patient in the beginning, as it might be slow.

How do I input the formations and tactics into the game?
Everything is set using team sheets. It is recommended you edit the default team sheet when entering formations and tactics. All formation, instruction, and tactics changes are made through the team sheet section.

Do these work for career mode?
Yes, and you have two options. First, you may edit team sheets before you start a new career mode—but you must edit the default team sheets. Once you’re ready to start a new career mode, select “current customized squads” as opposed to downloading the latest squads. Team sheet edits will only show up in career mode if you edited the default team sheet.

The second option, and preferred method, is to input team sheet edits using a second controller before the start of a game in career mode for your opponent. Doing this allows you to start using Projec10 in an existing career mode, as well as start a career mode without editing each team sheet which you’d like to use. However, this method will require a second controller.

Do you know some of these are outdated, or are not realistic?
Projec10 does not claim to be a tactician’s dream database of the most realistic and up-to-date football tactics in the world. These are merely settings for a video game which allow the game to perform better, and more realistically.

Why are some of the values so low, or so high?
Extremes are needed in order to see actual change with the gameplay. By default, the FIFA franchise has always used far too middle of the road, or default settings for custom team tactics, and formations.

Do I need to use any specific sliders?
Projec10 highly recommends using some form of sliders other than default to enhance the gameplay of FIFA 17. Currently, we recommend the most current set of the Operation Sports Community Sliders.

When will more tactics be added?
We’re starting slow, but the goal is to have tactics, formations, and instructions for all major leagues. Keep checking back for more updates.

How can I contribute to the project?
In the near future we’ll be adding the ability for several contributors to add tactics to the website/database. If you’re interested in helping, please join the conversation on Operation Sports.

Are these free to use? Can I donate?
Everything is free to use, and soon we will be collecting donations. They are not required, suggested, or obligatory—but if you would like to make a donation, you will have the opportunity to do so.

Seven Premier League tactics are currently up! The site itself will be improving as the days go on. Next up is the ability to navigate to another tactic from a single tactic page, instead of using the links on the main page.

Man, you killed it with these. The variety and manner at which the teams attack makes this a new game. I can't believe how much of a difference modifying the formations made.

Regarding Man City, Navas and Silva's instructions aren't showing. Should they just stay as default?

I'm watching Liverpool play Chelsea and I just saw Milner send an early cross from about 40 yards out to a streaking Firmino for a headed score. I have never seen the CPU attack like that before.

These are fantastic. Only note so far is on Chelsea's tactic the two outside players are labeled as midfielders, Moses and Alonso. However do you find that having labelled as midfielders have them end up in the middle of the park too often? like inside of the CBs and CMs instead of tracking back to the more full back position they should be filling. Maybe I am just seeing it. Other than that these are outstanding.

Yeah I'm still not set on that—as LM and RM we can set them to "stay wide", but if they're tucking in too far, might as well put them as wing backs.

yeah in my CM's i always use a three back system and the wingback role usually has them positioned correct. But again just want to say these are fantastic and if you need any help with anything give me a shout.

Edit the default AI team sheets, and when starting your CM select current customized squads instead of download latest.

Been testing these out a bit in CM. They play very very well. A couple of observations if you want them.

1. Liverpools tactic is spot on...games at Anfield feel so realistic, the hectic nature, cramped pitch. The only concern I have, and I haven't tested it long term but do you think having their default tactic without a ST will effect their transfer behaviour? Not that its a bad thing, just curious if you have seen this have any effect down the road in CM.

2. Leicester's tactic is good, and the containing team tactic works much better post patch because the tackling and marking is much more effective from CPU. I find that their passing because somewhat easy to defend at times and becomes less accurate because they are playing more long balls. I guess that is the way of the long ball team but just an observation.

3. Non symmetrical formations like Manchester United's where the CAM is off to a side of the striker or the striker is off centre, sometimes makes the shape break down defensively but its not too bad just something I noticed.

Again these are adding a fantastic layer to the game, I really have to think about how to approach each team I play and how best to break them down or defend them. Kudos
