I was never a big fan of theirs, but the news sucks. I know him and Cornell were close friends. Hopefully he has finally found the peace he had never found here.

Hate to see this. I was a pretty big fan back in the day. Saw them in Memphis years ago and they were really good. Didn't realize he and Cornell were friends.

      RIP.

        On Cornell's birthday no less.

I liked Linkin Park back in the day. Didn't care as much for them when they seemed to become the official band for Transformers and started trending more to a pop sound.

        Still....this sucks.

        RIP.

Terrible news, seeing that he was Cornell's friend I guess it was understandable in that regard.

So very unfortunate. I only like a few of their songs, but I liked how his voice fit them. Also kind of cool how they were the staple band for the early Transformers films.

Here's one of my favorite songs of theirs. Sadly his words are hitting hard now (NSFW):

He was also probably the best actor in his small bit in Saw VII. No difficult task, but something I'll still remember him for.

This one hurts bad. Hybrid Theory came out a few months after my mom died. I was 13 and their music really helped me through some tough times over the years. Feels like part of my childhood died.

Linkin Park was arguably the biggest band in the world in the early 2000's, and I think most would be hard-pressed to not admit to liking at least a couple of their songs.

Chester had a great voice and the intensity of his screams was something else. He'll be missed.

Breaking the Habit is still one of the coolest music videos I've seen.

Their collab with Jay-Z was awesome as well!

Stolen from Reddit, but worth repeating:
Everybody's fighting a battle you know nothing about.
Admittedly I wasn't a big fan of Linkin Park's work in recent years, but Hybrid Theory went diamond and left a huge impact on the nu-metal genre. If you were a teenager in the early 2000s, Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Minutes To Midnight were probably the soundtrack of your adolescence. Bennington will be missed.

And now, their last album seems like one long suicide note. [emoji22]

Re: Chester Bennington of Linkin Park has passed

I missed the boat on Linkin Park, just never connected with their music, but obviously they were THE band for a lot of people who were around my age when they started to rise.

I'm pretty deep in to music and have a decent touch on "the scene" these guys helped create. So many musicians from bands I love or have listened to have shown their love for LP and Bennington personally. It's clear how they paved the way for many, and even as they're going on 20 or so years as a band, still were selling out massive arenas and bringing cool bands to play with them.

It was cool seeing people from outside the scene pay their respects, especially for a singer of a band that plays a genre the mainstream doesn't really do, so to speak.
