The 1986-87 NBA Season is arguably the one of best of all-time. You still have many older legends such as Malone, Gilmore, and Erving. You have many greats in their prime, such as Magic, Bird, Isiah, and Dominique. You have a young high scoring Jordan (37 ppg), young Barkley, Malone, and Stockton. This season had many iconic moments, such as "Bird steals the ball," "The Sleepy Floyd Game," and ended with a classic Lakers vs Celtics matchup.
After getting feedback from the OS community, and considering the success of our 1987 Season roster from 2K12 and 2K13, we have decided to create a roster based on that year for 2K18.
As always, our goal is to provide a fully edited roster that is authentic is in gameplay, visual appearance, and sim stats to achieve the best possible retro basketball immersive experience.
As you may be aware, there were only 23 teams in the NBA that year, so instead of "bottoming out" the non-existent teams, we decided to do something different. We will be including the 1987 NCAA Final Four teams along with a few extras. If we can get enough information, we are considering adding a couple of Euroleague teams from that year as well.
The XBoxOne roster will include:
-The 23 NBA teams from the 1986-87 season
-The 1987 NCAA Final 4 teams
-Indiana (Won the championship with Steve Alford)
-Syracuse (Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas, Rony Seikaly)
-Providence (Billy Donovan)
-UNLV (Armen Gilliam)
-Additional college/Euroleague teams (to be announced)
-Some likely contenders are Alabama (my team..lol), Navy, UNC, Cibona
Zagreb (Petrovic), and Zalgiris Kaunas (Sabonis.)
-Every player's attributes, tendencies, sigs, and badges edited for maximum realism.
-High-quality CAPs (considering the limitations) and look-alike selections.
-Team's playbooks edited for authentic gameplay.
-Team rebrands provided for accurate logos, jerseys, and arenas floors.
-Edited shoes and accessories
-Edited coaches
We realize the past few years our roster projects were a little too ambitious and we had situations that prevented us from finishing. We feel confident this won't be the case this year, as we have already made tons of progress in terms of CAPs, rebrand creations, and testing gameplay. We will be providing regular updates as we move along.
Stay tuned!
