    The 1987 NBA2K18 Roster by Sellaz32, VTCRB, & SHH4UA

The 1986-87 NBA Season is arguably the one of best of all-time. You still have many older legends such as Malone, Gilmore, and Erving. You have many greats in their prime, such as Magic, Bird, Isiah, and Dominique. You have a young high scoring Jordan (37 ppg), young Barkley, Malone, and Stockton. This season had many iconic moments, such as "Bird steals the ball," "The Sleepy Floyd Game," and ended with a classic Lakers vs Celtics matchup.

After getting feedback from the OS community, and considering the success of our 1987 Season roster from 2K12 and 2K13, we have decided to create a roster based on that year for 2K18.

As always, our goal is to provide a fully edited roster that is authentic is in gameplay, visual appearance, and sim stats to achieve the best possible retro basketball immersive experience.

As you may be aware, there were only 23 teams in the NBA that year, so instead of "bottoming out" the non-existent teams, we decided to do something different. We will be including the 1987 NCAA Final Four teams along with a few extras. If we can get enough information, we are considering adding a couple of Euroleague teams from that year as well.

    The XBoxOne roster will include:
-The 23 NBA teams from the 1986-87 season
-The 1987 NCAA Final 4 teams
-Indiana (Won the championship with Steve Alford)
-Syracuse (Derrick Coleman, Sherman Douglas, Rony Seikaly)
    -Providence (Billy Donovan)
    -UNLV (Armen Gilliam)
-Additional college/Euroleague teams (to be announced)
-Some likely contenders are Alabama (my team..lol), Navy, UNC, Cibona
Zagreb (Petrovic), and Zalgiris Kaunas (Sabonis.)
-Every player's attributes, tendencies, sigs, and badges edited for maximum realism.
-High-quality CAPs (considering the limitations) and look-alike selections.
-Team's playbooks edited for authentic gameplay.
-Team rebrands provided for accurate logos, jerseys, and arenas floors.
    -Edited shoes and accessories
    -Edited coaches

We realize the past few years our roster projects were a little too ambitious and we had situations that prevented us from finishing. We feel confident this won't be the case this year, as we have already made tons of progress in terms of CAPs, rebrand creations, and testing gameplay. We will be providing regular updates as we move along.

    Stay tuned!

I was 12 and 87 and 88 were 2 of my favorite years growing up with the NBA! By far the most influential on me. When I saw Chambers, Dale Ellis, and X Man in this year all I thought about was creating 87 Sonics. I was at both games in the Western Conference Finals 2 rows back where we lost to Lakers. I was a HUGE Lakers & Showtime fan. If I recall game 3 Lakers put on a show and blew us out. When I say us I'm from Seattle but was in my purple & gold. LOL

Add the twin towers, that Jazz, Nuggets, & mavericks teams, wow! I'm super excited for this one!

Man...that is awesome you got to see them in person! I was 13 that year and also a HUGE Showtime Lakers fan. There were so many great and interesting teams that year too.

BTW, I relied heavily on your playbook edits/philosophy back in the day and we’d definitely welcome your input in this area if you are interested. The gameplay this year is awesome and it seems we should be able to achieve more realism with these older teams.

Of course... Just let me know... Get ready for Dale Ellis mid range coming off screen plays. It's funny I still use him as examples to my players as he was one of the best catch and shoot off a screen players ever. Everyone knew it was coming but you couldn't stop it. Excited to see Roy Tarpley too... The classic teams I already did is a great resource and start although I will slightly tweak a few of those after done with current teams...

Side note: I was lucky enough to go to the all star game here in Seattle that year as well. Tom Chambers won MVP and the game came down to Rolando Blackman hitting 2 free throws with no time left to tie it and send to OT if I recall. One of the best All Star games ever...

Here is a throwback video trailer from our 2K13 version of this season. All clips were CPU v CPU. The CBS themed music gets me pumped up!
