BleedGreen710 Madden 08 PC Franchise
Hello and welcome to my Madden 2008 franchise thread. I'll be playing on the PC version, using several mods that allow me to edit the game to my liking to create the most realistic experience. Updated stadiums, uniforms, logos, even updated NFL rules (extra point distance, kick off spot, new overtime rules, etc). Almost everything you can imagine can be edited. My franchise will be utilizing league wide CPU vs CPU gameplay, no game will ever be 'simulated', instead I will be watching the CPU play each and every game. I will be choosing a team to lead and will be making their player/personal management decisions, but the gameplay will be strictly done by the CPU. I wouldn't enjoy this very much on other Madden games but with the settings and mods I use the gameplay is so realistic its exciting to watch like a real football game. I'm starting things with the base Madden 2008 roster and a fantasy draft. There are 2017 rosters available however I enjoy the nostalgic roster, and I like how fantasy drafts mix things up. It's going to be like a whole new league. I'll be letting the CPU manage their teams for most things, however I will be adjusting things as I see needed to maintain a fair and competitive league. Each teams depth chart will be edited to maximum potential as I would my own teams depth chart, and I will periodically make CPU vs CPU trades that I feel are realistic. One of the major themes of this franchise is making sure I never feel that I have ANY advantage over the CPU. All mods I use can be found at http://www.footballidiot.com/ where there is a community of other Madden 2008 players who are constantly upgrading and updating the game. Shout out to them. Here are the main mods/utilities/sliders I use FF/FI Mod includes several graphics mods, UI, stadiums, uniforms, and more NZA's Madden Editor 08 allows me to edit teams, players, franchise options, etc Calhoupe's Madden Scripts edit the game speed, change NFL rules, game intros, and more JDHalfrack's Fantasy Draft Utility edit teams fantasy draft logic, add more/less variations cdcools' Madden 08 CPU vs CPU sliders and guide He's been tweaking these for 10 years now, doesn't get better then this |

Re: BleedGreen710 Madden 08 PC Franchise
After simulating the fantasy draft I narrowed down my choices and have decided to become the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs! The Chiefs have one of the leagues best rosters on paper - a potent 3-4 defense lead by CB Champ Bailey, DT Pat Williams, and MLB James Farrior, and a very capable west coast offense lead by HB Clinton Portis, WR Isaac Bruce, and QB Daunte Culpepper.

Re: BleedGreen710 Madden 08 PC Franchise
Madden 2008 utilizes a player roles system. Players who excel or struggle in a certain area are assigned roles that can affect the players value, ratings, or team morale. Each position has their own set of roles that can be acquired. Most are self explanatory but I'll try to explain the more intricate ones. Typically, players with roles are key players on your team. Player Roles are indicated by icons shown by the players portrait. Here are the Chiefs player roles for the 2007 season. These are players who have had long careers and have huge respect around the league. This increases their value and makes your team more attractive to free agents who want to play on the same team as NFL Icons. CB Champ Bailey (NFL Icon) QB Daunte Culpepper (NFL Icon) HB Clinton Portis (NFL Icon) HB Corey Dillon (NFL Icon) QB Daunte Culpepper (Cannon Arm) HB Clinton Portis (Feature Back) HB Corey Dillon (Power Back) HB Steven Davis (Power Back) WR Isaac Bruce (Possession Receiver) WR Santonio Holmes (Deep Threat) WR Jerome Mathis (Deep Threat) LT Bryant McKinnie (Pass Blocker) LG Floyd Womack (Run Blocker) DE Cornellius Griffin (Run Stopper) DT Pat Williams (Run Stopper) DT Grady Jackson (Run Stopper) MLB James Farrior (Heavy Hitter) OLB Ernie Sims (Playmaker) CB Champ Bailey (Shutdown Corner) CB Johnathan Joseph (Quick Corner) |

Re: BleedGreen710 Madden 08 PC Franchise
Week 1 of the 2007 NFL season should prove to be a tough one for the Chiefs, as the home team Texans have one of the most stacked rosters on paper. Their dominating defense starts at the defensive line with DT Marcus Stroud (96 OVR) John Henderson (96) DE Aaron Schobel (93) OLB Jason Taylor (95) SS Darren Sharper (93) and FS Bob Sanders (96). If theres any weakness its their cornerbacks, starters Gary Baxter (85) and rookie Johnathan Wade (77) will need to step up their game against Chiefs Cannon Arm QB Daunte Culpepper (85) and WR Isaac Bruce (87). Their offense is no pedestrian bunch as their wide receiver core is one of the best in the league with Anquan Boldin (94), rookie sensation Calvin Johnson (87) and slot receiver Kevin Curtis (85). Look for Chiefs CB Champ Bailey (99) to play a big part in helping to stop their receivers. This game figures to be a low scoring game on paper, but without seeing either team play yet it could really go either way. You can post comments on the thread whenever you would like. Re: BleedGreen710 Madden 08 PC Franchise
Yes they will probably be unhappy. In Madden 2008 players have morale and a lot of factors can affect it including riding the bench. They might even get the distraction player role which negatively affects your team. I might look to trade one of them by the trading deadline, Corey Dillon is an NFL Icon so I could likely get extra value from shopping him. Sent from my HTC Desire 625 using Tapatalk |

Re: BleedGreen710 Madden 08 PC Franchise
---On the first play of the game DE Cornelius Griffin forced a fumble and the Chiefs recovered. It was a sign of things to come for the Texans offense. If not for a late 4th quarter rally, this one was a complete blowout. For 3 quarters the Chiefs dominated the Texans in every aspect of the game. Thanks to a 23-0 first half lead the Texans were forced to throw the ball a lot, and finished with just 11 rushing attempts on the day compared to the Chiefs who ran it 40 times. Rex Grossman could not find any rhythm with his receivers. The Chiefs defense was stifling, CB Champ Bailey held Anquan Boldin in check all day and the pressure up front never allowed Grossman to stay comfortable. ---Chiefs QB Daunte Culpepper faced his own share of defensive pressure from the Texans dominant defense line duo of Marcus Stroud and John Henderson (who each had a sack), but he handled it much better then Grossman, throwing for 300 yards and minimizing his mistakes. He connected with WR Bryant Johnson for 64 yards on a 3rd down play in the 1st quarter that helped set the tone for the offense, a few plays later he went back to Johnson for a touchdown. HB Clinton Portis had a great game, running for 84 yards and 1 score, while also getting 34 receiving yards. ---In the 4th quarter the Chiefs gave up a few big plays including a 43 yard completion to rookie Calvin Johnson, his biggest play of the day, and a 54 yard touchdown run by Cedric Benson. A passing touchdown to Kevin Curtis and 2 point conversion left the Texans down by 8 and still in it with a few minutes to go. They got a stop and drove the ball down to the Chiefs 30 but fell short of the miracle comeback with a turnover on downs. ---One of the keys to victory for Kansas City was their efficiency. They converted over 50% of 3rd downs (Houston 37.5%) and scored on all 5 of their redzone trips. Kicker Shane Graham was a perfect 5/5 on the day. The Chiefs also held the ball for 31:48 while the Texans only had it for 16:10. ---Texans WR Calvin Johnson had over 100 receiving yards in his first game but clearly had some rookie jitters. He dropped an entire 5 passes on the day, largely due to the hard hitting Chiefs defense. His first welcome to the NFL was a slant across the middle where he met the ball, and MLB James Farrior, at the same time. Farrior was crushing people all game. ---Daunte Culpepper spread the ball around very well connecting with 8 different receivers. Santonio Holmes lead the team in catches with 4. ---Chiefs OLB Mathias Kiwanuka had a really nice strip sack. ---There was a lot of injuries during the game but all proved to be minor - except for one. Chiefs Nickel Corner Kelvin Hayden hurt his wrist and will be out for a few weeks. Here you can view all the stats from the game: Code:
