Shot Timing VS Shot openess

I'm tired of missing wide open shots because my release was 0.05 seconds late but the other guy makes a contested jumper because his timing was better. Whats the point of my 99 three with hof badges if timing > every other factor. In real life, players don't have the same timing on every shot and release shouldn't be majority rule of if the shot goes in or not. It should be closer to this

Openness 40%
Release timing 30%
Rhytm 10%
Fatigue 10%
Bounce luck 10%

Right now it is closer to

Openness 40%
Timing 60%

When you are giving me a pathetic sixties rating in speed, defense, ball handling, layups, dunks and basically every other category than atleast don't penalize me for being millisecond late releasing wide open jump shot off a hof catch and shoot and corner specialist.

I agree that timing is really overrated in the game. I've played with guys who have the most atrocious shot selection but they make a lot because they've nailed the timing down and have the badges that bail them out of horrible decisions. Meanwhile, players that just got made have a bit of a tougher time making wide open shots because they haven't spammed drills to get gold badges and all that.

So this is a tricky balance. You want it to be based off timing for skill reasons. But you don't want it to turn into timing focused thing. You want players to look for open shots. But to the point that a open shot even if released fairly late. Would still go in most of the time. Tricky balance here like I said.

I think it'd be better if things leaned towards the real FG% option, the same option you can have in an offline franchise. If you release very early or very late, then there should be a penalty, but the difference between "Good" and "Excellent" shouldn't be what seems to be the difference between a guaranteed make and/or miss.

Timing is one of the things that seperates good players from average joes, the more skill you take out of the game is not a good thing IMO

Agree.... We tried it the other way. Wasn't fun at all.

Disagree to an extent. I find that getting a better shot takes more skill and is what should separate good from bad players, not learning how long to hold a button down. (From a MyPlayer perspective)
