Jurassic Park - The Toronto Raptors | An NBA2K MyLeague

Sliders: Schnaidt1's MyLeague Sliders

Falling year after year to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Playoffs, do the Raptors have what it takes to overcome the beast of the East and finally bring a championship north of the border?

Re: Jurassic Park - The Toronto Raptors | An NBA2K MyLeague

Raptors Top Bulls In Season Opener

Demar Derozan led the way for the Raptors with 25 points.

TORONTO, ON -- The Toronto Raptors pulled out a 85-79 win on opening night against the Chicago Bulls in a game that ended significantly closer than it should have.

Entering the final quarter with a 15 point lead, it took two clutch free throws at the end of the fourth from Demar Derozan to close out the game--a game in which the Raptors looked shaky at best in the second half, scoring only 38 of their 85 points in the final two quarters.

"We've gotta protect the ball more," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey. "You can't expect to be winning ball games against better teams when you're surrendering 14 steals a game."

Denzel Valentine led the Bulls offence with 16 points, but the young Chicago team was never able to get into an offensive groove, scoring just 11 points in an ugly 2nd quarter that saw the Raptors blow a three point lead into a 17 point game at the half.

"It's tough to win games when you only play three quarters. We've got to be able to have our foot on the gas and stay focused for all four quarters of the game," said Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine.

The Raptors (1-0) are back at it on Saturday when they take on the Philadelphia 76ers (0-1).

Raptors Fall To 76ers In Fouth Quarter Collapse

Fred VanVleet had an impressive 12 points and 4 assists off the bench for the Raptors.

Toronto, ON -- After witnessing the Chicago Bulls collapse in the second quarter in their season opener, the Toronto Raptors shared a similar fate in the final quarter against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Shooting just 20% from the field in a fourth quarter in which they only scored 11 points, the Toronto Raptors fell 92-89 at the hands of Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Simmons led the way for the 76ers, posting 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in a well-rounded evening for the early rookie of the year candidate.

Demar DeRozan battled all night in attempt to overcome a stingy 76ers defense, putting up 23 points albeit with just one assist.

One of the lone bright spots of the evening came from second-string point guard Fred VanVleet, who led an efficient bench unit with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in just 20 minutes of action, shooting an efficient 4-7 from the floor.

The Raptors (1-1) have Monday off to regroup as they travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs (0-1) on Tuesday evening.

Re: Jurassic Park - The Toronto Raptors | An NBA2K MyLeague

Raptors Top Spurs In Defensive Battle

Demar DeRozan's 28 points was just enough to get the Raptors to their second win of the season.

San Antonio, TX -- Demar DeRozan had 28 points and the Toronto Raptors played an outstanding defensive game as they squeezed past the LaMarcus Aldridge-led San Antonio Spurs for their second win of the season.

In a game that saw both teams log low shooting percentages in the second half, the Raptors managed to pull out the 77-75 win thanks to a strong 27-point second quarter. Kyle Lowry bounced back from a poor outing against Philadelphia with 11 points and 6 assists while Fred VanVleet continued to impress with 8 points and 7 assists in just 20 minutes off the bench.

LaMarcus Aldridge posted his second double-double of the season with 23 points and 12 rebounds on 9-of-20 shooting, while Spurs star Kawhi Leonard added 19 points in 22 minutes. Rookie guard DeJounte Murray fouled out of the game for the Spurs at the 5:24 mark in the fourth quarter, forcing coach Greg Popovich to turn to veteran Rudy Gay, who poured in and efficient 7 points and 10 rebounds in the valiant comeback attempt.

The Raptors (2-1) will travel to San Francisco tomorrow to take on Steph Curry and he Golden State Warriors (4-0) in a highly anticipated matchup early in the season.

Re: Jurassic Park - The Toronto Raptors | An NBA2K MyLeague

Raptors Can't Contain Big Four, Fall To Warriors

Klay Thompson hits one of the Warriors' 15 three pointers late in the fourth quarter.

Oakland, SF -- The Golden State Warriors took advantage of a 14-point third quarter from the Raptors and ran away with a 105-88 win in the first of two highly anticipated matchups this season.

Steph Curry led the Warriors with five three-pointers, totaling 24 points as he guided his team to their fifth straight victory to kick off the new campaign. Klay Thompson added 21 points while Kevin Durant took advantage of a match-up against rookie OG Anunoby and poured in 19.

DeMar Derozan attempted to put the Raptors on his back, scoring a season-high 30 points, but the deadweight of the Raptors front-court proved to be too much for the Raptors star. The Raptors' starting front court combined for only 10 points, and looked mismatched for most of the night.

"We've got to play better or else we'll be hitting the golf course early this year," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey. "The guys know they have to step up, especially against teams like this. We can't be giving up 20 second-chance points. Take those away and we win that game."

The Raptors get another day off as they travel to DeRozan's home city of Los Angeles to take on the 2-2 Los Angeles Lakers.

Re: Jurassic Park - The Toronto Raptors | An NBA2K MyLeague

Raptors Forget How To Shoot, Fall To Lakers On The Road

Isaiah Thomas iced the game for the Lakers with a pair of clutch free throws in the dying seconds.

Los Angeles, CA -- Shot after shot, miss after miss. The Toronto Raptors hit an ice cold shooting streak in the second half against the Los Angeles Lakers, ultimately falling 85-79 to the young Lakers squad.

OG Anunoby was the lone bright spot for the Raptors as the rookie picked up his first career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in just his second career start.

Brandon Ingram played well for the Lakers, putting together 15 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 assists as his team took advantage of a sloppy Raptors squad that committed 17 turnovers.

"We'll never win another game this season if we continue to play like this," said Raptors assistant coach Jerry Stackhouse.

The Raptors (3-2) continue their early season Western Conference road trip as they travel to Portland to take on Damian Lillard and the 3-3 Portland Trail Blazers.

Re: Jurassic Park - The Toronto Raptors | An NBA2K MyLeague

DeRozan's 36 Not Enough As Raptors Drop Third Straight

Damian Lillard closed out the game with 6 straight field goals for the Trail Blazers late in the fourth quarter.

Portland, OR -- The Toronto Raptors wrapped up the month of October by dropping their third straight game, setting them back to .500 as November rolls around.

Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard went off late in the fourth quarter of a tied ball game, scoring 12 straight points as the Raptors defence struggled to find an answer for the perennial all star. Lillard finished the game with a team-high 25 points as his Trail Blazers topped the Raptors 92-83.

Demar Derozan tried to carry a struggle Raptors team on his back in the fourth, scoring 17 fourth quarter points en-route to his season-high 36 points.

Once again, it was the turnovers and lack of defensive rebounding that proved to be the downfall for the Raptors. A problem that they have faced early on this season, the Raptors committed a whopping 15 turnovers and were outscored 18-0 on second-chance points.

"We need our big guys to step up," said a frustrated Derozan after the game. "It's one thing to be turning the ball over at one end of the court, but you've got to be big and fight for the ball on the defensive side."

The Raptors (3-3) will hope for a fresh start on the road as they kick off November against the Denver Nuggets (4-3).
