Historic players are a welcome addition but I was hoping for more specific classic teams like Gretzky's Oilers or Lemieux's Penguins akin to the historic teams in NBA 2k

A good step forward though and the Gretzky cover art is awesome.

I would LOVE to recreate the Islanders-Oilers battles of the 80's.
Complete with bare boards, no ads on the ice, no two-line passing, old goalie equipment, etc.
Or how about the 72 Summit Series?

I really hope Legends like Gretzky stand out with their particular skill set.
Gretzky should kill you with passes to the point you'd be forced to have all-star Dmen on the ice to contain him.

Hero teams = various legend super teams? No historic teams then? Disappointing. Give us a vintage arena though as said above: blue ice, no ads on the boards, coaches & fans in old time garb. That alone get possibly get me to buy but I imagine that these legends were included with mostly HUT in mind

I realize this is a minor thing, but with so many legends in the game are we also going to see helmet-less players? Gordie Howe with a helmet would be absolutely anti-climactic.

I believe Howe didn't have a helmet in NHL 12.

That is what I’m hoping for. I hope they bring back classic goalie masks and give you the option to make created players helmetless if they do that then I am going to make some classic 70s rosters for myself to play. I’d start with the 1971 season first because of Orr’s Bruins.

I have actually created a load of accurate classic rosters for seasons from the 80s and 90s in NHL 17 and 18. It is a lot of fun to make from scratch. If they ever add roster sharing I’d actually create some to share with you guys, but it doesn’t seem like that will be happening with this game
