Official FIFA 2019 Impressions

So the game is out. Any impressions?

I bought if for the Switch and will be getting it for the Xbox One later today.

Thus far it seems good. A little hard on the Switch but I will see if that holds up. I plan to get heavy in the manager mode.

Re: Official FIFA 2019 Impressions

A few impressions from an offline and FUT player. (PS4)

1) Dislike the timed shooting. Very erratic. having trouble getting used to it. Also not a fan of having to press both l1,r1 and shoot for a low driven shot.

2) Im getting a mixed bag between offline play now and offline FUT gameplay. Play now offline the AI plays with different strategies and tactics. It also varies across different teams which is nice. In FUT, EVERY team plays the exact same way. Ping pong passes and rocket shots from the edge of the box. No variety, even on different difficulties. This is infuriating. Every game vs the cpu/ai feels the exact same.

3). Pace is obviously not as much a factor. You have to pick and choose when to use. I actually like this alot.

4). Defending seems easier for seem reason. Cant put by finger on it.

5.) New One touch animations are awesome.

6.) Graphics and face scans look really good.

All i got for now. Still enjoying the game.

I think the tactics and 1 on 1 battles are game changers. I played Tottenham with Arsenal and they killed me on counter attacks, allowing me possession and then breaking fast. It seems the game is set up for way more fouls, the refs just need to call them more.

If this is true then this is awesome! I always felt that if teams played different in FIFA that would catapult the series into greatness. That would be real soccer. With FIFA’s presentation each team playing differently would be very awesome!

Yep, not just that. Tottenham were making long passes, not just tiki taka. Several of their long passes missed. It felt like nothing I've seen in a FIFA game.

De facto no real change since Fifa16 (the last one i bought). Career modes are better than in PES but on the filed it still feels "empty". One day someone might manage to combine Fifa modes/presentation and PES gameplay...

Re: Official FIFA 2019 Impressions

My first impression is that this is really, really good. I haven't even touched tactics because my biggest concern about FIFA is the on-ball play. This is where PES has FIFA beat every year, I haven't been thrilled with the last couple of FIFAs and have been playing PES non-stop for the last month.

But FIFA 19 feels different to me, much improved from the start. I usually downshift my expectations when switching from PES to FIFA, but this hasn't been the case at all this year. That's a good thing.
