Player versatility is something that EA MUST implement into Madden. Yes, adding specialist depth chart positions is a step into the right direction, and there are safety at LB positions, however, it is not nearly enough. Currently it is impossible to use a player like Tasom Hill the way the Saints utilize him, and players are rated solely based on the position they're listed as, and rarely if ever have ratings that would make them a fit at another, only exceptions being HB's with receiving characteristics.
Two additions that would go a long way would be, custom packages, and an ATH position in draft classes or even the game it self. Madden use to have custom packages, and inexplicably removed them, to me they are better than formation subs. Furthermore, having an ATH position would allow a player to play ANY position, however, his ratings may only make him effective at 2 or 3 and in rare cases more. Would be nice if draft classes had players listed as ATH, in other words think of a player who has WR and CB ratings, and some if not most would be a lot better at one, so after drafting said player would be prompted at the end of training camp to make a choice on his true position.
There are other ways EA can implement versatility into Madden, such as, having a lot more generic formation subs, and removing the depth chart position restrictions, and by making it worth while so that a player that is used in such ways can make the pro bowl win awards and gain XP based on his complete contribution.
