Trade logic

I admittedly have only spent about 3 hours on sims so far, I plan on really tracking this weekend, but on all the sims I did at first were to look at the financial system at play.

With the new contracts I feared, that like the past it would affect trade logic. From what I have seen so far it has. I am asking if anyone had time to run a few sims.

What I am tracking is two fold. Quantity and salary threshold. The amount of trades is down as was with real contracts in previous games.

I ran tests with live rosters. I then tried a controlled test with osfm and then osfm real contracts. I saw many more trades with default osfm and the quality was better.

Back to the current rosters....I have noticed that the CPU does not value players or trade for players 12 mil or more. This eliminates big trades or even trades for valuable vets. An example is lemehue at 2b. He makes 12 now and is on trade block. The Yankees have two 2b and is never traded. In osfm imported he is traded.

If anyone runs a test can you look to see if any player making 12 mil or more is traded. If they are is it just a salary swap not prospect for player?

I see many.more prospect for prospect trades. I wish it was like 2k where we could adjust trade value.

I'm looking for as much hard data as possible. I want to forward anything on.

Re: Trade logic

Tabernes - yeah same general thoughts with default roster - not a ton of action (I kept the Trade slider at default, may experiment with that). Mostly small swaps, I did see larger salary swaps.

I'm going to run some tests with the updated rosters/prospect ratings and carryover OSFM Franchise as well just at the trade deadline and report back.

Re: Trade logic

I can live with arbitration and salary numbers leveling out if trade logic was adjusted. Can't see getting invested if teams are not looking to improve and make a push.

Re: Trade logic

@tabarnes - went through a 5 yr sim with a carryover using OSFM v2 (default contracts). Attached a video below with first 3 years (forgot to record the final 2) Some notes:

- more 1 for 2 or 1 for 3 trades compared to default The Show '19 roster
- frequency is higher initially but seems to level out over time (i.e. by yr 5 about the same as '19 default yr 5)
- some low to mid 80s free agents not being signed by year 5

Similiar to what I saw. They level out after 5 years and are same in frequency because salaries come back to default.

The 2 and 3 for one trades are more prevalent because the CPU see value in vets and can "take on the salary" and value those players. With real contracts the CPU see them as overpaid and passes on them.

You see more prospect for prospect and 1-1 trades to match salary. This is bad because there really is not benefit of being in playoff push. Teams cannot take on vets to help unless they move their vet.
