Transparency from SDS

I have been a MLB The Show buyer for 11 straight years counting the 2019 version. I always thought, and still do, that this is the best sports game out there, but the lack of interest the developers are putting into the franchise mode, has me wondering if we they should be more transparent.

If its a business decision to go into the DD mode, I can understand that, but they should come forward and say so.

If they are not going to develop franchise anymore, they should just take it out of the game, and us buyers/players of this mode, would know what to expect.

What they can not do is keep releasing a broken mode with such fundamental aspects like the rosters, so broken.

Its been a week and I can not start to play franchise because there are serious issues with the roster (Acuña, Gurriel service for example), that prevent franchise player to have the gaming experience that we paid for when we bought the game.

Worst than that, there is no news as to if those issues are going to be addressed, making my $60 useless.

I totally get your point. It would be nice if they truthfully articulated their view of franchise mode's importance. But to be honest, their neglect of the mode says more than enough.

May I ask what is broken in franchise? I have yet to start my franchise, still waiting for rosters

Re: Transparency from SDS

I don't understand, with MLBTS, and Madden... if resources are the issue, why not just turn out the game, and make franchise a standalone version, or an add-on/supplemental paid content to justify staff/development?

Its so sad to me that this industry is stuck in 1980, typical America, don't change anything until its failing catastrophically.

While I agree, Unfortunately they make enough money to not need to make changes. People need to stop buying the game. With all respect it should be widely known that they made little to no franchise changes, due to the stream they had, and the fact they made another mode rather then improve franchise. Trust me they don't care for franchise, nor will they say that. Reason they wouldn't say that, is it would hurt their bottom line

Re: Transparency from SDS

Franchise doesn't make much money but it's also very complex and the code is probably so old and tangled that they cant make it better with out starting from scratch.

The thing that's disappointing is that a lot of the issues around the game could be tested by some pretty basic testing. We hear they haven't got many devs. I assume they have SOME testers but maybe they should invest there going forward. Simple regression testing would pick up big issues like service time, or the ridiculous budgeting after they changed contract values. Bizarre.

Re: Transparency from SDS

I love MLB The Show but my biggest gripe with them is there is zero community interaction. I don’t think they’ve replied to a tweet asking anything (besides preorder specifics) in years.

It is refreshing when a company has some interaction with the community. I hope SDS will start to integrate that one day again.

Exactly my point. It's been a week and franchise players can not play the game because the most fundamental aspect of the mode (the roster) is broken. And to make it worst, there is no acknowledgment from SDS (at least that I am aware of) that it is a fixable issue.
