Does ratings even matter when it comes to shooting?

found this pic on reddit..how does a rim protecting-rebounder go 11-14 from 3. im gonna assume his 3pt rating is between 50-60 this should never happen under any circumstance. 2k may as well get rid of rating because its clear its all about the timing.

Yep, that's why everyone uses the same couple of bases (e.g. set shot 13). I hate to play online anymore as it's pretty much impossible to play defense. You try to play smart and sag off a pure slasher or glass cleaner, they'll just drain the three instead.

Nope. Set shot 13 and Base 24 got non shooting archetypes shooting lights out. 2k hasn't nerfed any bases this year so people are taking full advantage of it lol.

Its stupid that certain bases and releases make people better shooters. If I want to use Camby's release with my 99 shooter I should be a better shooter than a set shot 13 user with a 50 rating,

Releases shouldn't be 'money' or broken

Re: Does ratings even matter when it comes to shooting?

I have rebounding rim protector that can hit about 40% from deep, but when paired with HOF dimer, I was regularly having 8-10 games from 3. Now, a lot of that is because the center kept daring me to shoot, and he kept disrespecting my range, but it's still a bit zany.

I don't have the same comfort of pulling the trigger with this guy, obviously. I only take wide as hell open shots that come because the center is giving me Ben Simmons space.

Welcome to the idiocy of the perfect release.

I wanna see someone do it from the post. Hooks, hop shots, and fades only. No drop steps, spins, and takeover shots don’t count. You can use a post scorer too, doesn’t have to be a lock/rim.

I feel like I’m beating a dead horse at this point but I just can’t understand how people don’t see it. People are taking any build and turning them into sharps/stretches with the right release or badge pairings. Yet most post scorers are tentative to take the 2 most fundamental shots for bigs, because the success rate is in coin flip territory, assuming you get no more than a lightly contested release.

Lightly contested?
I’ve had 5’7 120 lbs pgs not even contest, just stand there with their hands down and it puts me in a layup animation like Shaq just bodied me up.
Let Boogie Cousins get Darren Collison buried under the rim and let’s see if he misses.
This game makes the hardest shots the easiest and the easiest shots the hardest, it’s ridiculous.
