    2019 Offseason Thread

Anyone wanna make any bold predictions?

    Mine:
-Kawhi isn't going to LA. If he leaves Toronto, I'm calling him going to Phoenix (imagine Zion, Kawhi, Booker, Ayon lineup)
    -KD won't go to Knicks.
-Pelicans get all 3 Celtics 1sts this year in Davis deal (then package 2 to have another top 10 pick)

Vince Carter announced that he's playing next season. He'll be 3rd oldest player in league history (2nd in NBA history, behind former teammate Kevin Willis) and have played more seasons than anyone in NBA history.

Is Rob Pelinka going to remain as GM for the Lakers? Will he also take the role of President/VP of Basketball Operations? Or will the Lakers hire a new President/VP of Basketball Operations? Will she/he be hired before hiring a coach?

What exactly is Jeanie Buss doing?

I'm fine with that.....after watching him this season, no way do I want Kyrie on the Knicks.

Kyrie wanted to be "The Man", but he sure doesn't act like one.

Sorry Pack, Bulls over here poaching Nets talent.

Jim Boylen has hired Nets assistant coach Chris Fleming to serve as his top assistant.

What can you tell me about him Pack?

Lakers add Lionel Hollins, Frank Vogel and Mike Woodson as potential head coaches, per Shams.

Mike Woodson.. didn’t think I would see that name mentioned for a head gig again.

He’s had some pretty solid coaching years. That run with New York faded out pretty bad, but I’m not sure I’d put all or even a large part of that blame on him.. spent some time coaching with Rivers after that and probably picked up a few more things as well.

There's a guy on r/Lakers organizing a protest in front of Staples Center on Friday.

I don't blame him, this organization is a ****ing joke at the moment and is going to waste LeBron's last years and their future after him.

All this noise because they didn’t reach an agreement with Ty Lue of all people lol..

Am I the only one who doesn’t see this as some massive failure to throw a fit over? Seems like what most teams go through during a coaching change, only it’s the Lakers so it’s out in the open more so than usual.

No this is the "last straw the broke the camel's back". If you've paid attention to all the rumblings and well seen the real-life results, Jeannie is a **** owner. Kurt Rambis and his wife of all people apparently have more power than they should. Apparently everyone but the Rambis duo signed off on Lue's signing and that led to today...there's the rumblings of them being "shadow owners", whatever that means.

Whatever is true or isn't, the fact remains that it's the Lakers and the Lakers only that have all this **** going on and said about them, so there's bound to be truth to some of it. The whole Magic fiasco...it's all such a bad look.

And everything always falls back on the leader...Jeannie Buss...she has proven to be an absolute dog-**** of a leader and she needs to go. I doubt she has any apologists left at this point.

And I don't blame Lue for rejecting their offer, they low-balled him. He has an NBA title on his resume but only got offered 3yr/18 mil while Luke gets 5 years over in Sac? That ain't right...

Idk man.. I feel like some of this is only as big of a deal as it is because it’s “The Lakers” and “Magic Johnson” and to add to that they now have “LeBron James” and Pelinka was “Kobe’s agent”.. seems to have a lot of name power behind what doesn’t seem like that large of an ordeal.

I don’t blame the Lakers for not offering Lue a contract that extends past LeBron. He lasted about 5 minutes in Cleveland after LeBron left and they could very well be in a spot to completely change identities at that point.

You gotta go all-in on LeBron though and Lue made sense. Kidd is a risk and I think even Bucks fans will tell you to take Lue over Kidd. Nobody I've seen with a rooting interest in the Lakers wants Kidd as HC.

Ans as far as Lue in Cleveland goes, he was canned after just 6 games and it's not like Larry Drew did much better since he wasn't brought back either. That organization is a huge mess too it's just no one cares as much anymore because LeBron left.

I would have rather had Monty or even Juwan, but Lue would have been okay, however, I don't blame Lue for rejecting their insulting "Lebron's keeper" offer even more so if they tried to force assistants like Kidd on him. If they don't relent on all of their idiotic demands to Lue, then I don't see how we going to have any coach who isn't just desperate to get a job and will acquiesce to their wishes and have an assistant who is a lock to knife him in the back the first chance he gets.

Unless of course they go full Ted Stepien and hire Kidd, which I wouldn't put past this group.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
