Double play city.

Every single year I lead the league in grounding into double plays. This year is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. I’m in the second week of June and I have 76. The next closest team has 55. By the end of the year I’ll lead this category by 50+.

I’ve read all I can and I know baseball, but there’s just no way to stay out of them.

The Show has always had the ability of lulling the user into the double play. It’s annoying at times.

Although many will argue it's not an issue. I know that undoubtedly the fielder's willingness and more than anything, their ability to get the ball to second base quickly and accurately is one of the main culprits.

Second basemen going DEEEEP in the hole to their left, wheeling on their backfoot and throwing strikes to the shortstop to start the double play is part of the issue.

Re: Double play city.

Yeah the balance of fielders reaction/speed/ability to get rid of the ball combined with the batters speed down the line make this a big issue. It's pretty rare to beat out a double play, regardless of your hitters speed as the fielders are so damn slick.

It's present in other areas too, like how you can easily throw out runners at first with your RF, or the always alloying force out at second when the runner hurdles the ball hit along the ground to the RF, or even this year they've added a lot of ones where you're thrown out going for a double on balls hit all the way to the wall in centerfield, or runners being gunned down by miles trying to score from second on singles with two outs.

I think in general, they just haven't quite got the scale of the baseball field right, it feels too small in every regard.

Yes, the frequency of fielders turning perfect double plays is too high. I wouldn’t mind a slider for double play efficiency.

I also hit into a ton of double plays and always have. Figured it was because I used the tigers and they always have slow teams. But now I'm using the Braves and it's the same thing. Agreed that the field always feels too small

Re: Double play city.

I've hit into 58 double plays thru 86 games, which ranks me 27th in the majors. The Yankees have the most at 69.

Re: Double play city.

I have 66 in 54 games, dead last. I should probably have more, but depending on who's at first (my fastest players have 70 or so speed and I also factor the steal rating), I will send them on counts I plan to swing, and I've managed to hit grounders where the runner stays out of the double play.

However, I'm also very aggressive at the plate so I could also have less if I didn't swing at most everything.
