Is this only for sim mode? Bc it’s honestly something i can see the competitive crowd whining about loud enough to get changed.

I have to imagine anyone playing competitive (MUT) is going to be using a QB in the signature tier. As such, this might make Aaron Rodgers slightly more valuable in the competitive scene, but that's about the only reaction they might have. Between that and the lack of injuries in competitive, I don't think these changes to QB throwing animations and mechanics is going to cause an outcry.

In previous years, there were two generic short throw animations, that had a 50/50 chance of being used. However, the biggest pain point around these animations was they were different speeds from button press to ball release. Obviously, it can be frustrating not knowing what animation you will trigger in such a timing-based game, so for Madden 20, we took these animations and made them the same speed for all generic passing types.

They wanted to get this out there to explain why things were working the way that they were in the Beta with QBs throwing animations and Andre also mentions that they are looking into cases that may have been causing longer throwing times. He said that the animation on short throws definitely isn’t slow and is roughly the same throw speed as last year. He said that they felt a need to relay this information because the differences on directional and distance throws may be a little jarring so they wanted to be as specific and thorough in their explanation as possible to avoid confusion and speculation.
