UFC 4 won't be getting the Frostbite treatment.

Take a look at this job opening at EA Vancouver. I suspect this could be for migrating a possible* UFC 5*
and NHL 21 to the Frostbite engine.

Unfortunately, they are just now posting the job opening so it sounds like UFC 4 will not be getting
the Frostbite treatment:

Yeah, this doesn’t surprise me; three iterations on Ignite means it’s probably best to stay with it for UFC 4, plus I’ve heard Frostbite is tough to work with (though it depends on the game I think). Hopefully we get Frostbite for UFC 5, I remember reading that Frostbite is designed for games to have a smooth transition from Ignite. Makes sense since it’s EA’s in-house engine.

Personally I'd like to see the 2k team get a chance at ufc 5. They have the originally ud3 dev's yukes under them. It would be interesting to see what that team could do on updated hardware. I'd like to see it made on the euphoria engine as it's far superior than any engine ea currently uses

FYI, Yukes and 2k no longer work together.

What makes you think this is connected to UFC 4 or NHL? Fifa and Star Wars are both developed in Vancouver and both are Frostbite games.

Because Star Wars and Fifa already use the Frostbite engine:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_W...17_video_game)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_19

This seems to be a position for a Frostbite migration team, where the key responsibility according to the listing is migrations to the Frostbite engine.

That isnt the only part of the description though.:

What does a Software Engineer do on the Frostbite Migration team?

As more and more games transition or get developed on Frostbite, it is critical that systems and components work seamlessly and are able to leverage the powerful potential of the Frostbite Engine. This is a challenging role that requires a seasoned software engineer proficient in one or multiple domains spanning rendering, systems, animation, work pipelines, online, etc. You will have the awesome opportunity to work on the front lines with both game teams and our core engine teams, offering further growth and professional development experience.

It could be another game developed in Vancouver. It could be a completely new game too given that it references games developed on Frostbite.

There is nothing about the listing that would lead me to speculate about frostbite and either series other than its a job in Vancouver on that specific team. The title of this thread would lead you to believe that it specifically mentions UFC or NHL when it doesnt.

No big deal. Its just the title is a bit misleading.

It could be another game developed in Vancouver (Mass Effect, Plants and Zombies). It could be a completely new game too given that it references games developed on Frostbite.

I like how you only bolded part of that sentence. But I think it's clear what the position is for. I think you're intentionally trying to muddy the waters here, and make this confusing to hide what's going on here.

Bioware is the developer of Mass Effect: Andromeda, the latest installment:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_Effect:_Andromeda

PopCap Games is the developer of Plants vs Zombies:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plants_vs._Zombies

So those are completely irrelevant to the discussion.

I am going through the list of games developed by EA Vancouver, and checking off the ones that already
use Frostbite, thus narrowing the list of games developed by EA Vancouver that still need to be migrated
to Frostbite, that this position is applicable towards.

So far, we are left with UFC, NHL, potentially some others yes. This could also apply towards development
of news games using Frostbite as you said. However, to say you see

"nothing about the listing that would lead me to speculate about frostbite and either series"

is disingenuous at best. I'm not aware of all the games EA Vancouver develops for, nor do I have the time to
search for them. But the UFC and NHL franchises are distinct possibilities that this position could be working
to migrate in the future.
