Re: Time to Ride - Denver Broncos (M20)

Broncos Open Pre-Season with 23-20 Win Over Seahawks
SEATTLE -- The 2019 version of the Denver Broncos opened their pre-season with a win for new head coach Vic Fangio defeating the Seattle Seahawks 23-20 in overtime.

Denver debuted a new starting quarterback for the 2nd straight season. Joe Flacco joined the Broncos after spending 11 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. Being the first pre-season game Flacco's playing time was limited as he completed 3 of 4 passes for 30 yards.

Most of the Broncos first team players hit the bench after the first quarter. Starting running back Phillip Lindsay gave the team the scare going down on the first play of the game with a bruised sternum, he should be fine going forward but he may not see the field much more before the regular season starts.

First round pick Noah Fant ran with the first team and saw little action but did catch one pass for six yards.

Many Broncos fans are looking to 2nd round pick Drew Lock to break the string of draft misses at the quarterback position. His first performance left much to be desired as he completed just 8 of 18 passes for 96 yards and was intercepted twice.

Devontae Booker is battling for a roster spot after the addition of Theo Riddick and made a strong case with 85 yards rushing on 8 carries. Khalfani Muhammad carried 14 times for 54 yards and scored the Broncos lone offensive touchdown.

Chris Harris Jr. was responsible for the first Denver touchdown with a first quarter pick six off Russell Wilson. Von Miller had 2 sacks before exiting the game.

After taking a 17-3 lead into the half and extending it 20-3 in the third quarter Denver allowed 17 unanswered points and the Seahawks forced the game into overtime where a McManus field goal and defensive stop gave the Broncos the win.

Re: Time to Ride - Denver Broncos (M20)

49ers rout Broncos 40-16
DENVER -- After a decent performance to open the pre-season the Denver Broncos committed 5 turnovers and had a punt blocked in a 40-16 blowout loss the the San Fransisco 49ers.

Things looked to be headed in the right direction after Joe Flacco hooked up with Theo Riddick for a 43 yard touchdown in the first quarter. From that point it was all downhill for Denver.

Flacco threw two interceptions and rookie Drew Lock looked lost at times throwing 3 picks.

One of the few bright spots for the Broncos was Royce Freeman who carried the ball 10 times for 65 yards.

Rookie wideout Juan Winfree has had good pre-season thus far and the team in receptions again with 5 for 28 yards. First round pick Noah Fant improved on last weeks performance with 4 receptions for 28 yards.

Denver now heads into the third pre-season with a lot of work to do before what's typically used a dress rehearsal for the regular season. Their opponent will give them a tough test as the L.A. Rams are coming a loss in last years Super Bowl.

Re: Time to Ride - Denver Broncos (M20)

Denver shows improvement with 33-24 win over Rams
LOS ANGELES -- The third pre-season game is seen as a dress rehearsal for the regular season and after last weeks disappointing performance the Denver Broncos needed to a good showing.

Denver appeared much improved on both sides of the ball as they took down the defending NFC champions 33-24.

Joe Flacco had an up and down game, playing 3 quarters and completing 16 of 24 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns. However, he was also intercepted twice and the Rams took advantage returning both picks for touchdowns.

Emmanuel Sanders was the recipient of both Flacco TD passes finishing with a game-high 7 catches for 67 yards.

While considered a cut candidate after the signing of Theo Riddick, Broncos running back Devontae Booker has been one the most impressive players this pre-season. Booker led Denver with 17 carries for 77 yards and scored on a 102 yard kickoff return. Wether his play will ultimately be enough for Vic Fangio to keep him around remains unknown.

Rams fans and players held their collective breath after starting quarterback Jared Goff took a hard shot on a 4 yard scramble and was forced to leave the game. Initial reports seem to indicate that it was bruised sternum and with the starters sitting out the final pre-season game he should be available for the season opener.

The Broncos did lose one player due to injury. Back-up receiver and starting punt returner River Cracraft suffered a dislocated elbow and will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks.

Denver will close the pre-season with a visit from the Arizona Cardinals. The game will serve as a final opportunity for players to secure a roster spot on the final 53-man roster. None of the Broncos key players are likely to see the field again before the regular season.

Re: Time to Ride - Denver Broncos (M20)

Broncos Close Pre-Season with Win
DENVER -- With most of the starters sitting out the final pre-season game the Denver Broncos accomplished their main goal of staying healthy heading into the regular season. They also picked up the win, defeating the Arizona Cardinals 13-6.

Rookie quarterback Drew Lock played the entire game and did little to impress the home fans. Lock went 24/36 for 235 yards and 3 interceptions. Denver fans will have their fingers crossed that Joe Flacco can remain healthy all season as the rookie clearly needs to improve before facing NFL level defenses.

Devonte Booker took the bulk of the rushing duties with 24 carries for 62 yards and scored the game winning touchdown with just 17 seconds left in the game.

Brendan Langley led the receiving core with 10 catches for 87 yards.

Second year corner Isaac Yiadom had an interception for the 2nd straight game and Zach Kerr recorded two sacks to bolster the defense.

Denver will open regular season play on Monday Night Football against their hated rivals the Oakland Raiders.
