Anyone else experiencing terrible transition defense?

Playing mycareer pro difficulty. Didn’t really have an issue pre-patch or prelude. But now it’s like I can run around the entire transition defense in circles to the hoop. Not only that but no one really picks up ball and assignments/breakdowns are a mess. It’s hard to watch.

Granted this is pro difficulty, but how it’s played is inherently flawed on that difficulty.

Perused the forum for a thread but didn’t see one to my surprise.

I know transition defense was a legacy issue not too long ago.

Yep back to the 2K legacy issue where the the defender runs under the basket again. I started noticing it again after patch 3.

They don't run to the wings or pick up players in transition anymore.

I'm only playing Play now.

Hmmm.... I dunno guys. Transition Defense has been a legacy issue since 2K15 and was my biggest issue going into 2K20, so I really focused on it. Its really STILL hit or miss--sometimes they're aware of the ball, sometimes they're clueless. Its always been like that--patch or no patch.

Why do you think what I call the "2K pass" still exists? Guys will get the rebound and blind throw the ball down-court...that would never happen in even a HS game. The Transition D still has issues.

Can this be changed with the Wall Up and Protect the Perimeter options in the in-game menu?

Haven't tested the differences yet but seems like that's what the options might be for.

I wonder if it depends on the team you use?

I still see defenders run to the charge line and stand then react after, after the CPU shots the wide open 3 or jumper.

I already put the defender in good position but as soon as I switch they do nothing.

I was using LAC and nobody was getting back on D except my user controlled player. AI literally just watched my opponent go on fast break after fast break, even with Wall Up and limit transition on..something is definitely broken.

edit: and i had fresh subs

Same conditions as OP, crossing the half-court line on a 1 on 3 fastbreak, I somehow ran past all 3 for an uncontested dunk.
