Sony confirmed: PS5 will launch holiday 2020

Sony just confirmed the PS5 will launch holiday 2020

https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2019...-holiday-2020/

I don't mind it if the developers of UFC 4 make the decision to wait on the PS5 for launch. What do you guys think, do they need to wait on the release of PS5 or launch UFC 4 on the PS4?

Nah, they would never wait for something like that. There is not much of a benefit to them for waiting for the PS5. It will take a while for it to have a high enough install base too, so if anything they will sell less copies I would imagine.

Let's just hope the PS5 has good backwards compatibility so we can play UFC4 on it. And hopefully the next gen consoles bring us proper crossplay.

Nah they won't wait for PS5, but hopefully it'll be backwards compatible. Besides, they can always make a next gen port too if they want.

It seems no additional paddles (butterflies) on DS5. again.
SONY thinks that Paddles is NOT a Way of the samurai.....

Re: Sony confirmed: PS5 will launch holiday 2020

I would like to see UFC 4 come out in March/April of next year --- I'm in no rush to play, I'd much prefer to wait a bit to have a polished and awesome game at launch.

Then, move to the next generation of consoles around Summer 2022 --- with UFC 5 being a totally new graphics & physics engine, built practically from scratch.

(But with all the gameplay balancing lessons learned over the years included, of course )

I believe EA only has a 4-game contract with UFC so it'll be interesting how an extension would work. UFC seems to be pushing this franchise a lot on PPVs and what not, which is a good sign, hopefully UFC 4 performs very well and they'll be excited to sign another long-term contract.

I would hate for there to be half a decade between UFC 4 and the next edition ... franchise has some momentum, need to keep it going!
