Crusader Kings 3

I never beat any of these games. They are so deep.

Re: Crusader Kings 3

I get a lot of paradox games but never really know what I'm doing. I'm more of a rts or turn based strategy fan but I'm sure if I figure one of these out it would be a lot of fun

Re: Crusader Kings 3

Will wait until 3-4 expansions are out that make the game way better and they bundle it all for around the same as base game on release day. That is the Paradox game strategy these days I think. Their past couple releases have not gone well.

Just did this with Hearts of Iron 4.

This is the way to go with their games. Even Cities Skylines has basically followed the same model. In the end, it works, but it does take some patience and money.

Re: Crusader Kings 3

Yeah wait a couple years and it will have about 6 or 7 DLCs for it. Hearts of Iron 4 was SOLID at launch though, I was surprised. Stellaris and Surviving Mars was so subpar at launch though. Stellaris now is a totally different game then it was at launch. They completely overhauled it.

EU4 was really good right away too, but that was 6 years ago. They are releasing a major overhaul of the Holy Roman Empire area early next year for that game. I have over 2000 hours into it. Probably my favorite game of all time.

Re: Crusader Kings 3

CK3 has CK2/CK1 to build off of, whereas Stellaris was built from scratch essentially. Overall, I'd say Paradox has done a decent job recently at making sure their games are quality at lauch (EU4, HOI4). A far cry from the days of HOI3, where the game was a flaming pile of *** out of the box.

Anyways, as much as I love Paradox games, I'm kinda disappointed. I was hoping for this to be about Victoria 3.

Crusader Kings 3

I think they’ll actually go EU5 then Vic 3. They are overhauling the base region of EU4 with their next DLC. They did the same with CK2 a while back. The lead game designer of EU4 is leaving the company now that this DLC is basically in the final stages. Lots of signs pointing to EU5 being next.

I haven’t really gotten into Vic 2 as much. I just feel like so much of it is better played automated, and I’m not a big fan of not knowing why things are happening. I’d definitely give Vic 3 a chance though, and I think EU would benefit from incorporating some of the ideas in Vic such as population and having more than one religion/culture in each province.

I should point out that I haven’t played Vic 2 with the major community mod, which I hear adds a lot.
