WCW Reborn (FirePro)

March 26 2001 is a day that will go down in pro wrestling history, a day that Shane McMahon announced to the world that he bought and owned World Championship Wrestling shocking the world and his own father.

After attempting to use WCW to go to war with his father and take over WWE, Shane left the wrestling business for awhile to explore other ventures.

February 22 2016, Shane McMahon again shocked the wrestling world when he made his return to WWE, and made it clear he was back to ensure the wrestling legacy of the McMahon name was going to be around for a long time.

October 4th 2019, After 3 and a half years back in WWE, Shane McMahon was fired after losing a big ladder match to Kevin Owens and officially ending Shane's time in WWE.

Now, it has been announced that in his exit from WWE, Shane worked out a deal to give up any stake he had in WWE, and in return he was given the rights to the name and branding of WCW the company he once owned.

In a statement Shane made his intentions clear:

"I plan to take WCW, and truly build from the ground up, not using my name to attract stars right away, not calling in favors from my past... this relaunch of WCW will begin with 6 superstars most of you have probably never heard of, our first show will take place in a gymnasium, and I want to start this truly from the bottom, and one day be able to say that when people think of the McMahon name, they think of WCW first, and WWE second."

January Year One

Tonight, we see the rebirth officially of WCW as Shane McMahon presents the first show of this new era in the company.

Shane has been very upfront that this is an evaluation period, looking for any of his original 6 superstars that stand out and show they should be a star this new WCW is built around.

We do know for now, WCW will be built on singles competition, with 2 divisions, the Heavyweights and Jr Heavyweights.

The first show of this new era in WCW was a success, some solid in ring action and a look at some potential new stars in the making.

The one question many fans have in mind, with only 2 Jr Heavyweights currently on the roster, could we be seeing some more debut on the coming shows?

__________

Show Preview: Next month when we see WCW again, the following has been announced:

A rematch between Junior Heavyweights David Houston and Bill Bullock

as well as more action between the 4 heavyweights that we saw tonight.

With no word yet on any negotiations with new superstars, Shane McMahon appears to be sticking to his word of not rushing WCW
