Won the Stanley Cup, Finally!

Had to make a self-congratulatory thread. After 5 seasons, I have finally won the Stanley Cup in my Philadelphia Flyers franchise. This is in NHL 17, playing for the last 3 years.

Missed the playoffs one year, got bounced in the first round twice, made the Eastern Conference Finals another year, and then this year I got red hot at the end of the season and rolled through the playoffs in JUST 17 games. It was an insanely incredible run. I never let off the pedal. Every game I expected the game to flip the switch and start getting breaks and potting goals, but nope. Suffocated teams defensively and kept scoring and scoring.

Ever feel like sometimes when you play you’re just “on” and other times, your guys feel sluggish. From Game 70 or so of the season through Game 4 of the Finals, everything clicked. My passes were crisp, my cycling was on point, my goalies came up huge when needed, and the passing lanes were clogged up. It was amazing. I didn’t mess with the difficulty or sliders or anything. It just all came together finally.

Feels so good to not have to slog through another 82 games (I play them all!), hope I made the playoffs, and try again. Sure, I guess defending the Cup next season is my new goal but I’m soaking in the accomplishment right now and had to brag a bit. 5 seasons in the game, 3 years in real life time, finally... STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!

Nice job, Slick. We'll let that side of the state see the Cup for once.

Great job!

Sitting 1st in the West right now after slogging through 67 games, and will likely win the presidents trophy, but my potential first round matchups right now are Edmonton or Arizona, both of whom I've struggled against this year.

Re: Won the Stanley Cup, Finally!

Congrats, Slick! Impressed that you stuck with one game for so long, too. I can see myself doing something similar with NHL 20.
