Not a good sign for fans.
Not a good sign for 2K fans either, since you want competition to push you creatively.
Hopefully EA can move the game to Frostbite and be ready for next gen launch. -

And how's the frostbite engine gonna solve it?, if memory serves me correct. When EA introduce the Frostbite engine into madden 18 (I've believed) it didn't worked out as they originally thought and introduced some bugs because the engine itself only known for FPS' (I.E. Battlefield).

Disappointing but this could pay off next year. Hopefully they didn't waste their time over the past year and put in work that will benefit the game for next gen. By not releasing a game this year they can focus all of their attention on next year's product and harnessing the full power of the new consoles.
That said, if EA isn't able to fully deliver with Live next year that could be the final nail in the coffin. They've had plenty of chances and basketball fans have been willing to give EA the benefit of doubt with Live's struggles over the years. But next year there are no excuses for having a lackluster product.Comment

I don't even expect Live to be out the first year of next gen. More like 2nd year of next gen. Hell I expect a UFC game to be out on next gen before NBA Live does.Comment

Damn...hopefully they got something for next gen. Thanks to EPIC gobbling up exclusives I've learned to be a patient gamer.
With the news of EA coming back to Steam it would be nice to see future NBA Live games come to PC.
