Higher = less fumbles
Lower = more fumbles

I know that sounds counterintuitive, but its true. The higher you move the slider the better your player gets at not fumbling. The lower you move the slider the worse you are at fumbling, so it happens more often.

FWIW, I play All-Madden default 50 on the fumble slider and I do not have a problem. It is CRUCIAL you hold RB when you’re about to be hit. Perhaps OP isn’t protecting the ball by holding down RB just before being hit?

Yeah, I play on AM default 50 as well and in my last season playing 15 minute quarters I fumbled like 4 times during the whole year. As you say, holding R1 as well as not juking when a big hitter has a bead on you are the keys to not fumbling that often.

I raised the fumble slider to 56 my QB (58 car) is the only one to fumble (2x) in 3 games.

It has to be a Defensive ratings/OVR thing as I used to see a lot of fumbles with stock rosters, but ever since doing Kahliib's 15 year scrub, and playing with reduced OVR players, it hasn't been an issue.

I use cycloniac sliders and it’s recommended there to adjust traits for all players to different settings. Cover ball always for QB and cover for all hits on WR and TE seems to do a lot to reduce the fumbles. You can still get 1-2 a game, and sometimes you have a shocking game with 3-4 fumbles but it’s not too out of control.
